Big Gay Groups To Obama: F*ck You

I always confuse the savages. i never remember where Mike or Dan in the evil one.
Dan is the cute gay one who writes the sex column for the Stranger in Seattle and has a baby with his partner.
Michael Savage is the right-wing radio broadcaster who has barred from entering England. He's so awful that even Rush Limbaugh sided with England.

epic lulz
I really don't understand the outrage. Obama made it clear how he felt during the campaign. Until there is real social unrest nothing is going to be done. This "I will stand by the law until it is changed." B.S. is a big cop out! Big whoop Gay groups say F You!
I don't think ANYONE who ran for President would do any different no matter how Gay Friendly they seem. What is a shame is that the message of Hope seems to apply to everyone except Gays and Lesbians. I bought the whole "I feel your pain, Gays should be able to serve in the military" crap from Bill Clinton and look what it got us!
There are tons of quotes from his campaign that did indeed promise specific and unambiguous support for gay rights.
The only thing he made clear was that he was an advocate for GLBT rights (including marriage).
As I said on another thread I don't blame him for dropping the hot political potato that is GLBT rights. I do hold him accountable for blatantly lying about his intentions so thoroughly. It's not like he needed to presuade gays to vote for him. So, why all the deceptive rhetoric?
Did he just feel good saying those things? Knowing he had no intention of following through. He hasn't even *tried* to follow through.
Oh, except of course with that lame and empty pronouncement about June being gay pride month.
Hey Barak, it already was gay pride month. That gesture doesn't count.

I voted for Hilary in the primary but I knew Obama would win. I honestly don't think Hilary could have beat McCain and had she been the candidate, he would have had a black man as his VP candidate (who knows if it might have been Michael Steele since he does seem just only slightly brighter than Sarah Palin) and that way men of ALL colors could bond in the voting booth over their anti-women issues.
So, Obama had me by the short hairs. And yes, I think it's worth mentioning that I am one of the rare gays of America (and many straights too) who still HAS short hairs and does not wax them off. But I digress. I totally agree with Dan Savage's sentiment.
About Dan Savage?
Or about Obama?
About Dan Savage?
Or about Obama?
Both. But I was referring to Obama.
Well, thank you very much for saying so.
You may not not believe me, but I would have vastly preferred I be the one to say that to you.

I agree with Dan Savage's sentiments about Obama. I just want my money back. I didn't get a t-shirt or anything for it.
"You may not not believe me, but I would have vastly preferred I be the one to say that to you."
I do believe you.
You should know that this has been one of the biggest disappointments of my life. I'm not sure I'll ever fully recover from it. I truly believed in him. I talked him up to family, friends and co-workers, and supported him, for 4 years; but the stakes are too high and I have too much of a vested interest to stand by idly and continue to defend and support such a hypocrite and two-faced liar. He's just another slick talking politician making promises that he has no intention of keeping. Either that or he lacks the wisdom, vision, fortitude and know-how to affect the change that he promises, and that is long, long overdue. My feelings at this point are... If not now, when? If not him, who? And sadly, I don't have the answers.

It takes a big man to admit he's wrong, Luscious. Maybe Obama will. Unfortunately it might be one of those "In hindsight I wish I had..." stories he tells to the documentarians at his presidential library.

Folks, Obama has never supported marriage equality. Ever. He supports civil unions for same sex couples. This has always been an essential contradiction in his position, his alleged support for equality for gays vs. his oft-repeated anti-gay marriage stance.
There can be no misunderstanding his intentions now. The man is steadfastly opposed to equal rights for gays. This is an unapologetic declaration of war.

"You can't take God out of the mix."
The irony is amazing.
Obama's black: 50 years ago how many gays and lesbians were involved in the civil rights movement to get equal rights for the black population. Now it is payback time and Obama, Jesse Jackson, and other a**holes use the excuse of the Bible or "let the states decide themselves".
I say forget all so-called pride marches and other crap and march to the White House.
One would think that someone who faced some bigotry and discrimination in his life would be more sensitive to the concerns of another long-opressed group. Guess not.
One of the comments was this:
"I didn't vote for the guy. I didn't trust the guy. I thought he'd be worse than Clinton (Hillary, that is).
And goddamit: I was RIGHT!"
That could have been written by me, but I did vote for him, since I had no other choice. But, I said Washington will eat him alive, and it seems to be up to his knees so far.

Your capsule history there seems to imply that the the "many gays and lesbians" who were involved in the civil rights movement were white. Some were. But Bayard Rustin, the architect of the March on Washington was gay and black. AND FROZEN OUT of the movement because the FBI had dug up evidence that he was homosexual and Martin Luther King couldn't risk being associated with that.
The thing is, people of all hues and sexual orientations worked on civil rights in the early '60s because it was the right thing to do. No one is ever going to do something because "it's payback time," whatever the frig that means.
People need to move on this because it's the right thing to do. As Pal Joey keeps pointing out, things are changing, but Obama doesn't want to be part of it.

I recently trimmed my facial hair, talking the talk is all I have left.
Come on ffalgg, that's not going to get us anywhere. This isn't about revenge for pete's sake.
Whoever did or did not support us in the past is a moot point.
It's like when prop 8 failed (in Nov.) and everyone was saying it was the African Americans who voted againt it. I don't know whether that is true or was just a headline grabber, but the point is I don't care.
I'm not going to waste my time being pissed at someone who should have known better. I'm going to spend my time (and money) convincing them to vote differently next time.
