Just watched this film last night, and I loved it. I especially loved the soundtrack by Sondre Lerche and purchased it on iTunes directly after watching.
Did anyone else dig it?
I saw it when it was first released, due to my love for both Steve Carell and Norbert Leo Butz. I enjoyed it immensely. And Juliette Binoche was luminous.
I rented it last week and it still moved me...funny, without being slapsticky, and sweet. A celebration of family. I adored it.
I loved the soundtrack as well. It so perfectly captured the mood of the film.
I was really surprised by this one -- I didn't expect to love it so much. The trailers made it seem a lot more silly than it is.
Threadjack: Your av makes me smile, newgirl.
I had no urge to see it, but it was playing on a flight I was on, so I watched it and LOVED it!
Steve is funny and heartbreaking all at the same time.
I highly recommend it!
I remember when the movie came out the few people I knew who saw it found it disappointing. I think they must've been expecting something more along the lines of Judd Apatow.
I don't know. I loved it. I can't believe I hadn't heard more about it. And I'm so glad that I Netflix-ed it!

I loved it. The very rare movie that presents a believable famiily dynamic, without any commercial "wackiness" or bad, worn-out bathroom humor (except for that weird shower scene).
Agree, agree.
I loved it.
And have the soundtrack.
Allison Pill = life
good movie good actors good soundtrack
do you need much more?
It was such a sweet movie. Really well written and entertaining. And Carrell was fantastic in it...very restrained and really touching. He should have gotten a Golden Globe nod for this, IMO. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would.
I really enjoyed this movie a lot more than I thought I would. I also had no idea that there were so many "Broadway" actors in it (Allison Pill, Matthew Morrsion, Norbert Leo Butz, to name a few).
I wonder how long until this movie is musicalized...
Yep- loved it too! Very sweet movie! Very character driven so it was an actor's movie. The girls playing his daughters did a great job! By the way- Flowery- did you decide on a grad school?

SPOILER**********************************************************
The only thing I really couldn't believe was that shower scene, and it bothers me more and more as I think about it. I mean, seriously, ladies--if you open the bathroom door on someone you barely know who's about to take a shower, do you nonchalantly walk in, sit on the toilet, and start having a heart-to-heart talk with her as she showers? First of all, it's a serious invasion of privacy; second of all, how could she hear you?

It was refreshing to see a movie like this. So many families go through so much crap nowadays (you should see mine). It was honest...well, apart from the shower scene. Movies like this are just a breath of fresh air for me.
I just bought this movie and I'm going to try to watch it within the next couple of days. I love me some Steve Carrell!
Wait!
Matty Fresh was in it?
I don't remember seeing him. What scene was he in?
Diva, Matty is a police officer who stops Dan in a few scenes.
