re: Dana Reeve Has passed

She was a remarkable woman if for nothing else than this: while so many people abandoned their spouse during a true "in sickness and in health" catastrophy (and I won't sully the tribute to Dana by mentioning them), this wonder stayed by her man, fought tirelessly on his behalf, and was a real model for us all.
But, sometimes, it seems God has another plan. Perhaps, as I often think of people like this, she burned too quickly and too brightly and was called home.

re: Dana Reeve Has passed

Thanks, girl, but it's true. I will admit not knowing much about her but I was always taken aback by her staunch support of her husband. We have so many examples of a sick spouse being abandoned. But she never did. If anything, she appeared to tie herself even more closely to him.
But, in the end, both her pain and Christopher's are over. I grieve more for their son than them now. They're together again.

re: Dana Reeve Has passed

Dana Reeve was a constant companion and supporter of her husband during his long ordeal and his work for a cure for spinal cord injuries.

She was chairwoman of the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, which funds research on paralysis and works to improve the life of the disabled. To date, it has awarded $55 million in research grants and $7.5 million in quality of life grants.

She was performing in the Broadway-bound play "Brooklyn Boy" in California when she had to streak home to reach her husband's bedside before he died. She gave up the role for the New York run.

Reeve also served on the boards of The Williamstown Theatre Festival, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, TechHealth, and The Reeve-Irvine Center for Spinal Cord Research and as an advisory board member to the National Family Caregivers Association.

She received numerous awards for her work, including the Shining Example Award from Proctor & Gamble in 1998, an American Image Award from the AAFA in 2003. In 2005, the American Cancer Society named her Mother of the Year.

She made her time count.

Good lord, Addy. She did a lot. Like you said, she made her time count. I find myself reexamining my life and wondering just what the heck I'm doing.

re: Dana Reeve Has passed

She was a woman who rose to the terrible occasion presented to her and showed us all that by acting with grace and integrity in the face of tragedy and hardship, we can enoble ourselves and those around us.

Rest in peace, Dana and Christopher, and may your memories be for a blessing to your children.

Sometimes life is just so very unfair.

I did not want to start my morning in tears, but now it is unavoidable.

May you and Chris celebrate your love forever.

Just came across this on Yahoo, how very tragic...
"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Conan O'Brien
