Hair!
Could the kids here please explain this striaght hair fad. My girls use a shampoo called Dangerously Straight! My wife bought them a hair device that straightens hair for $150.00!!!!!

Posted: 5/4/07 at 12:03amWe used to use an iron but you can damage your hair that way so consider the $150 gadget as a medical device.

Posted: 5/4/07 at 12:05amI got a curling iron/straightener from Meijer for $25. It works just fine. My friend bought the $150 one and I can't tell that much difference between the two.

When you have wavy hair like mine, you have to pick each morning......do I use a product to make it straight or a product to enhance the curls? Or do I do nothing and end up iwth a frizzy mess?
And am I going to hell because I used my straightening iron to iron out the hem of my skirt this morning????

i use a two-headed hairbrush from conair (i think) that has a plate that gets hot form the hair drier.
it was less than $10 and works great. it dries your hair super fast too.
i only use it on my bangs though.
just be glad they're into straight hair and not hoochie mama clothes like most of the little girls around here! :)

Posted: 5/4/07 at 12:34ambrd, I think I own that dangerously straight stuff. I think i own mostly every straightening AND every curling product. I have curly hair, but not in the nice way. So I either need a lot of product to make the curls look ok, or alot of product and a few hours to make it straight. I don't have much of an in between to choose from!

I used to straighten my hair all the time with my frends old one which I purchased for $5, howver this was before I started to come into my own in the sense of realizing it was redonkulous.
But it seems to hold popular in these days of the American Eagle hostle take over of American youth.
Which I also happen to despise.
Anywho, now I'm a bit skittish to go near my straightener.
I'll take the blowdryer, thanks.

uh- my hair is super curly, thick and frizzy. I just usually wear it up in a ponytail.
I've tried several different hair straighteners. It takes no less than 2 hours to make it straight, if not more. I used to straighten more often when I lived in PA but since I'm living in FL, there is absolutely no point with the weather.
I get so frustrated when it doesn't stay straight. I hate when it begins to get a bit wavy. There really is no point in straightening it. People think it looks better down and curly but I hate it that way.

I feel for ya SweetQ. I stupidly sat for an hour and half straightening my hair when I was in FL once, and within 20 mins of being outside, it was curly again! I act like the wicked witch when it rains if I have the straight hair, because if that rain hits my hair it's all over, I might as well have melted!
Brd - fad wise, it changes. For a while the scrunched/curly look was in, then the pin straight, then bangs, then, well you get the picture.

My oldest brother has tight ringlets and my middle brother (who is identical to me minus the hair and a foot of height) has the nicest, straightest hair ever. I got shafted with with most ridiculous hair that doesn't do anything at all...hence why I shave it off all the time randomly, when i get frustrated with it.
Do any of these hair straightening shampoos work? I would definitely like to try one if it was recomeneded.

Posted: 5/4/07 at 3:13amhair straightening shampoos, gels, serums, mousses, etc. have never ever worked for me... the only thing that does it is a hair straightener, and a 25 dollar hot tools one just does not cut it for me, those are actually really bad for your hair... the more expensive the more safe it is to use...
