I'm listening to Declaration and my mind can't hear it as anything but desperation. Hah, sorry David Cook.

^hahaha! I see what you mean :P
Ok, everyone NEEDS to listen to Permanent. It's about his brother Adam (who's been battling cancer for 10 years or something crazy like that), and it's UNBELIEVABLY poignant and beautiful. I can't even... just listen. haha

I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.

Okay, finished. Not doing it for me. But, then, modern alt-rock hasn't been my cup of tea for over 10 years now. This is just making me want to listen to Soundgarden, not aging Chris Cornell's new pity protege.
I, however, love Bar-ba-sol. Damn.

haha yeah, Bar-ba-sol is ENTIRELY kick ass. Like.. insanely so :P
After having listened to the whole thing now, I'd say my favorites are:
Come Back To Me
Bar-ba-sol
Avalanche
Permanent
But honestly, I AM a very big fan of... MOST of them at least. Actually, the two I like the LEAST I think would have to be Light On and Declaration! Especially Light On. I loved it at first, but then it just.. got too screamy. And it's not even the BELTING of it that made it screamy, it's just... what I love about Cook in general is that, to me, he communicates the EMOTION behind songs so unbelievably well. THAT'S what makes him seem so much less generic than other rockers. And Light On.. doesn't really have a lot of emotion behind it. But it's the ONLY one on the CD, to me, that doesn't.
So yeah, over all, I LOVE IT. Sooooo much. 95% of it is SO much more organic than any Idol debut album has any right to be. (And I'm very willing to bet the 5% that isn't is the 5% he didn't write/co-write
)

I need to hear some more songs before I commit to buying it.
I'm looking more forward to Daughtry's sophomore CD.

Ahh I am so obsessed. <3
I mean, if anything I'd say everyone should at LEAST listen to Bar-ba-sol and Permanent.
I'm usually not into the SUPER alternative rock stuff either, but.. Cook reminds me of Edwin McCain. Alt rock, but not so far out there that it's wierd. Just.. really catchy, awesome music :)

I fell in love with Bar ba sol when I first heard the 30 second snippet of it. Its so freaking good. I actually really like all the songs, I think he has a seriously good cd on his hands and he did himself proud for his first one. It is definitely the best first album ever to be put out by a AI winner/or contestant. This will be a hit I have no doubt. I am excited for his tour starting this spring also. Yea I would say I am a little obsessed too. Theres not a lot of decent music out there anymore and its high time we had someone this good come along. Even when he screams in a song he screams in tune!! My mother who is 81 years old even likes, lol the boy has a voice.
I have RSD...but it doesn't have me!!!!

Snl, I too am a HUGE fan of David Cook. I find him to be just so "Real", so "Genuine".......just a really nice guy who happens to be talented. I hope he's able to maintain that persona!!

HellsBells, thank you for that link!! I have totally not seen that site before. LOVE all the songs live- especially bar-ba-sol <3
And the interview is wonderful too! I love watching him in interviews because he's so wonderfully articulate, intelligent, and down to earth
Oh and yeah, he is looking GORGEOUS!
I'm glad he's hopefully had some time, now that the tour is over, to just kind of hang out a lay low for a little while. I think he def has because he looks MUCH more well rested :) Poor thing looked soooo tired toward the end of the show and throughout the tour!

Bumping and changed the title of the thread on account of, in 3 minutes, IT'S OUT!!
Not that I haven't already been listening to it nonstop, but. Still. It'll be wonderful having the actual official CD!

Omg. So Cook's doing a signing at Virgin Megastore today, right? Well, I guess people have been waiting in line all night, so what did he do? He sent donuts for everyone. CUTIE <33
Sorry, just had to share, because I find that entirely adorable and uberly sweet

I have only given it one listen so far, but I liked every single song. That rarely happens for me.

I really like it so far. I was disappointed to read the song credits and not see none of the songs he wrote with Ed Roland (from my homeboys Collective Soul, they're from my town!) made the album.
I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)

I watched the cellcast from his show at the Hard Rock tonight, OMG he was so good. Even with the choppy sound he was still good. I seriously hope he comes to upstate NY on his tour this winter/spring.
