re: Dearly beloved....

I would spend the fifty bucks Em, to save the pictures, etc.

re: Dearly beloved....

In NYC, it's probably twice that. Still, I'm not losing this stuff.

I called my parents in hysterics - NOT a smart move, but better to tell them now before they crucify me months later for "being an idiot," after handling it myself. *shrugsigh*

'tis my first night sleeping without Roger, but off to bed I go. Wish me luck... hopefully if he's not fixed tomorrow I'll still get to drop in for a while. I'll miss you guys!

Could you get into safe mode? Or could you not access it?

If you got into safe mode, did you right-click the Start menu to "Explore"

re: Dearly beloved....

I got into safe mode, and the start menu worked fine. Unlike in regular mode, the windows would at least come up, but they would get stuck before they opened, and I'd get that "... not responding" prompt. I can't explore anything because it can't open any windows. re: Dearly beloved....

You give the most wonderful words of encouragement, though. :-P

Well, I was going to be a pediatrician...until I decided I hate kids.

Well, let it sleep and try again to acces the Explore area.

When you turn it on, give it a while to start up and get itself ready.

If it still doesn't work, I say Rage Against the Machines and through that b*tch out the window.

But that's me.

re: Dearly beloved....

God said to Mitzi, you can have anything you wish for. She said I want to have an endless supply of wealth and I want to live forever. God said fine! The first thing Mitzi did was book an appointment with a plastic surgeon and she had everything done. The nose, the eyes, the chin, the breasts, the thighs and the buttocks. Weeks after she is fully recovered she crosses a busy street and is killed by a car.

In heaven she eagerly awaits to speak with God. She asks God, What happenned? I thought we had a deal? Why didn't you pull me out of the way?

God said "Gurrrllllll . I didn't even recognize you!"

re: Dearly beloved....

It's more or less Mimi "dies" from AIDS then comes back and says that she saw Angel and "she looked good."

MIMI: And I swear Angel was there - and she looked GOOD! And she said, "Turn around, girlfriend, and listen to that boy's song..."

Emcee, I'm very sorry about Roger. My laptop is my baby and when it had to go to the hospital a few months ago for a week, I was a mess. Okay, it was during midterms, so that was part of it, but you do feel like a part of your life is missing.

Hug and good luck!

Dearly Beloved, are you listening?
I can't remember a word that you were saying.
Are we demented or am I disturbed?
That space that's in between is insane and insecure.

Oh therapy can you please fill the void?
Am I retarded or am I just over-joyed?

Well, DAMN YOU, DARTH!

Roger is being taken to the doctor today. Hopefully he'll be back in commission within the next 24 hours.

re: Dearly beloved....

My computer is basically like a laptop, but It can hold less, LOL. But yeah if mylabtop were to break and I had TONS of pictures and sound clips of Raul, I'd probably break out in hysterics. But yeah, my cumputers name is Jenna... I love her, and she is SO HOT!

re: Dearly beloved....

I would cry if my laptop died. ... Especially since I just got it last month. :O

Best of luck to Roger, Emcee. Hopefully, he'll make it!

I can't even try to explain that one, Thenardier.

Elphaba, my toaster's heart is almost as broken as my own.

Still working on this...

re: Dearly beloved....

Eek. That happened to me many moons ago- I had to reformat the C drive, re-install Windows, the whole deal. I'm guessing you already tried a System Restore? Anyway, sometimes computers just...wear out, even if you do everything right.

*goes to back up files*
#49

re: Dearly beloved....

Yep, I can't get to system restore. I can't open any windows, run any programs or access any files. My start menu will pop-up, but that's the farthest it'll go.

The places in NYC want upwards of 400 dollars to retrieve my data. I'm going to have to take Roger to get fixed back home this week. I miss him! However, God bless the computer lab.

re: Dearly beloved....

Uugh, sorry Em! I don't have a laptop yet (a few more weeks!), but one of my harddrives crashed a few months ago and it had over 100 hours of cumulative work on it. The tech guys estimated over $1,000 to get any data off of it. I still get so depressed when I need something and realize it was on that harddrive. UGH! I hope your situation gets better!
