"A maintenance worker at the Metropolitan Museum of Art fell to his death Friday while doing waterproofing work on a skylight at the Temple of Dendur.

Police are calling it an accident.

The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. this morning and was witnessed by several museum-goers.

The area where the man was working has a ceiling with two levels: a glass atrium and a false glass ceiling above the atrium. Workers can walk on the false glass ceiling.

Sources tell NY1 the worker was walking on the false glass ceiling when he put a counter-weight onto the glass. The weight somehow shattered the glass and the worker fell about 60 feet, landing on the marble platform below."

Is that in the room with the view of Central Park and the Egyptian Tombs?

Wow, what a tragedy!
