Does anyone know any more about this play?

I love the way, when utilising the "playing gay" defense, actors always bring out the Serial Killer or Axe Murderer line...no-one ever says "Just because I played a dental technician doesn't mean I'm a dental technician in real life".

Wildcat! What a great post! Actually I posted basically the same thing at another site a while back, and so we definitely see eye to eye. Yes, I'm tired of hearing actors say, "I don't have to have killed someone to play a murderer," when asked if they are gay because they "play gay." As for being being in a "gay play" being reason to wonder if an actor is actually gay, at least in L.A., it seems that more and more gay roles ARE being played by gay actors. So it's not illogical to ask this question about "the Dell guy." By the way, Michael Musto's Jan. 18th column had this to say about the man in question: "On the penile-noir scene, it was fun to run into the Dell dude, BEN CURTIS, at the gay bar Therapy." Not proof of anything of course, but interesting enough for Musto to write about.

I heard Phylicia Rashad was in that black play. And isn't B.D. Wong in that oriental thing?

Why doesn't Patti LuPone star in more Italian plays?

This is so random! I think the guy might have meant gay as an insult, but I'm not sure.

JOY is a romantic comedy by San Francisco theatre legend John Fisher, who should be better known here in NY. It's like a gay "Annie Hall." It was produced in SF 10 years ago as "The Joy of Gay Sex," before some of John Fisher's other great comic extravaganzas like "Medea, the Musical."

This production is directed by Ben Rimalower, who did a great job directing the "Snoopy" benefit. In addition to Ben Curtis, it features Harris Doran in the lead (he was wonderful in the "Hair" benefit), Becca Ayers ("Sarah Plain and Tall"), Christopher Sloan ("Insomnia"), Brian Patacca (The Donkey Show), Sheridan Wright (The Producers) and Gavin Esham, who was a Naked Boy Singing.

But best of all--it's got Natalie Joy Johnson, who was SO good in Bare!

Is the Dell dude gay? Well he's appearing in a gay play, he hangs out in gay bars--and he likes boys! But according to BroadwayBB it's a "fact" that he's straight.

You people are silly, very silly.

Meda..The Musical...

A classic??? For some of us who saw it, "classic" would not be the word I would associate with it.

Childish?

One of the few things I';ve seen that I can't believe was passed as a "professional" production.

This is so confusing. He hangs out at gay bars? He likes boys? He's definietly straight? Sounds like a bunch of unconfirmed gossip about someone who's only known for a series of TV commercials.

A: Hannibal Lector was gay. Did anyone ask Anthony if he was gay? (Of course, you don't need to ask, considering it's quite obvious)

B: Is Drew Lachey Jewish because he's playing a Jew on Broadway.

C: Patti LuPone played Eva Peron. I never knew she was Argentinian.

D: Madonna and Jonathan Price are Argentinian, too...But WAIT, isn't Jonathan Price Asian?

C: And while we are on Miss Saigon, Lea Salonga. Philipinne? Not as Kim...Viet Namese. But WAIT! FDS - she's CHINESE!!!

D: And is Shroeder really black as Linus is Asian?

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.
