Of course, playing a gay character must mean you're homosexual. In fact, any male associated with theater? Gay gay gay gay gay.
/idiocy
Plum, do you need to take a nap again?
I don't actually think that's what this guy was saying. I read it as two separate things. He's in the 'gay' play. And he is also wondering if he's gay.
I thought I heard he had a girlfriend, but what does that portend, I ask you.
I agree with Plum, just becuase someone plays a gay character doesnt mean the person is gay. Ex. Idina Menzel played Maureen but she certainly isnt gay. (married to Taye Diggs.)
He didn't say 'He's in the gay play, he MUST be gay.' He's asking a simple question.
A questions that is neither offensive nor, as far as I'm concerned, too personal (though many others will disagree).
Perhaps this guy has a crush and wants to meet him and maybe ask him out for a drink.
Maybe he's a young gay guy who is struggling with his sexuality and would like to feel less alone by knowing an actor whom he admires is gay...like him.
Or maybe this person really does believe that to play gay you must be gay.
But to call this person an idiot for asking the simple question is a bit harsh.
have we figured out what play he is in?

"The Dell Dude" = Ben Curtis
I can't find any "Gay Play" he's in. What is a "Gay Play" anyway? Is it a play who sleeps with other plays of the same gender?
But seriously...why does playing a gay character always lead to this discussion? I think it was Anthony Hopkins who was asked a question like this and said "When I played Hannibal Lechter no one ever asked me if I was a serial killer in real life."
And it is a little bit insulting I think.
I was just asking what play he is in because i would go see it if it is in ny!!! (i dont care if hes gay or straight or what type of character he plays)
robbiej....I'm going to have to agree with Plum. The initial question poses a mere question about the "dell dude's" sexuality...not about the play he's in.

I read it that because he's in that gay play, is he gay?
Why else reference the play he's in as "the gay play"
Didn't he go to jail?

Hmmm...I think Jail is more likely to lead to homosexual acts than appearing in a "gay play"....
But no, he got busted for Pot. I don't think he did time.
Anway, now that I'm thinking about it: Is he gay? And does he by chance like the larger, bearded gentlemen?

Adam, yes, Ben's in 'that gay play'. And, no, he isn't gay.
'I'm going to have to agree with Plum'
You're gonna agree with calling someone an idiot for asking this question?
Does that give me free reign to call people I think are idiots 'idiots' because they as questions I deem idiotic?
Ok...great. Where to start...

I saw the reading of this last fall, the "dell dude" was supposed to be in it, but had to back out. Glad to hear ben is in it. The play is REALLY good... not about SEX at all. :) In fact, I think he plays a straight character in it.

robbie...I didn't agree with him calling him an idiot. I agreed with the way the initial post can be interpreted. That's all.
