With Dean @ the top & if Hillary gets the nod, it will not be pretty.

let's see where things stand after the midterms. remember, howie and hil ain't the biggest of buddies, so let's see how well the new chairman steers his party in 2006 before folks start annointing the heir apparent to the johnnies.

Why isn't Illinois Senator, Barack Obama being more seriously considered? He's intelligent, passionate, charismatic, and well-spoken. He gave an electrifying key note speech at the Democratic Convention. Although I personally have nothing against Hillary, I think he'd stand a far better chance of going all the way than she would.

i think at this point everybody but howard dean and zell miller are getting serious consideration but because the power base of democratic party is expected to shift somewhat with dean's ascension i think it's impossible to say at this point who will be able to make the best push 18-24 months from now. obama's an attractive candidate, no doubt, but there's a lotta folks ahead of him in line. i think the question is what the party is and should be looking for in a candidate this time around. that, i don't think can be decided until after the mid-terms. my guess would be that dean will try to lead the party closer to what he considers its roots to be, playing to the base. a lot of people believe (i read a lotta dem blogs, check mine, i even link to 'em) that the presidency was lost because the party compromised too much by nominating kerry who initially supported the war.

Here's my take on the Hillary run:
I don't think she'll be able to choose a woman VP running mate as I'm not sure America is ready for that. (Our male ego thing).
Any man with a large amount of political experience is not going to submit to Hillary. (Once again the male ego thing).
Hillary will have to choose a man who is willing to work with her. That's not going to be an easy task.

I am so sick of people talking about Obama as the second coming. He is a good looking fellow who has had a very good set of events occur in his life. Right place, right time. He has not proven himself to be presidential material yet.

Papa is right. And, there are a number of people who feel that Dean could have won the election, howl or no howl. The big difference being Dean's record with gun owners.
I think the Democratic Party needs to be very clear on what it stands for. I do not think becoming more conservative is the answer. Kerry lost by the smallest percentage we've seen in many elections. Aside from possibly the gay marriage issue, Americans aren't as conservative as some would like us to think.

Being that the majority of voters are women, Hillary has a good chance.

Dems just need to get out there and learn to communicate! O'Bama makes such a great impression because he speaks out. He doesn't use 10 words when one will do. He speaks from the heart (or at least appears to) and makes that connection.
Democrats need to step up (Like Boxer did--DOES) and say "This is Wrong. This is why it is Wrong. And I WILL NOT support it!" when GW starts weaving his spell.

I think Hillary is a brilliant woman and absolutely would have my vote for president. It's not about gender, it's about brains. Clearly, the country didn't consider intelligence to be a factor when re-electing George Bush, so I wouldn't be surprised if a brilliant woman like Hillary (if she does get the nomination)will loose the election to another bigoted, closed minded, Jesus-freak asshole from hicksville.

I am a huge supporter of hillary. I was having a conversation with my mom recentlly ans she believes that hillary will not be running for prez in the next election because she can acomplish more as a senator. Interesting opinion which i thought i'd share.
