About 6 years ago I had a root canal and a crown done. Just recently when I bite down it hurts. Any clue what could be causing this? Anyone else experience this?

Could be an infection or the crown may need replacement.

Im on an antibiotic now so we shall see how that goes, but I'm thinking the crown is bad. I know they say to stay off of Google but I looked it up and it could be something called "pulpitis"?

The root canal may have failed. It happened to me and I had to go to an oral surgeon and have a procedure called an apicoectomy. Was sedated and the whole procedure probably took less than 30 minutes. I had no pain afterwards (just soreness) and the healing process was very quick.

But you could have done every single thing right since you had the crown put on and something could go wrong and they will imply it was your fault. On, well, gee, if only you'd invested in a water pick.

I have a very nice dentist who realizes I didn't get the best work before I came to him. Not to mention he's easy on the eyes. Who doesn't like a man in a tie?

You may have cracked the crown, if so it needs to be replaced. Also, I maybe wrong, but even with good dentist work, a crown is not a permanent fix. Crowns can crack or come out with age.

Just a note - if you grind your teeth at night (which I do, and can be the source of cracking), I was advised to use gold crowns instead of porcelain. The porcelain can still crack, and the gold is more durable.

At first glance, my pervy brain replaced "crown" with "dam" and I thought this was a totally different thread.

Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

So basically theres an infection and my dentist thinks the root canal can be "bad" so he's sending me to a specialist to have it looked at. The sage continues. He did give me a super strong antibiotic so hopefully it helps.

Let us know if the specialist also wears a tie.
