Did Jefferson Davis love America?

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Just hours after presidential candidate Rick Perry said that he would be the kind of president who would be “passionate” about America, the Texas governor suggested that President Obama may not share the sentiment.

“I think you want a president who is passionate about America -- that’s in love with America,” Perry said during a visit to the Iowa State Fair on Monday.

At a Republican Party event Monday night, a reporter asked Perry whether he was suggesting that President Obama does not love America.

“You need to ask him,” Perry responded. “I’m saying, you’re a good reporter, go ask him”

Jefferson Davis probably did love America a lot more than this idiot.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

We know Rick loves America-
April 2009: Later, answering news reporters' questions, Perry suggested Texans might at some point get so fed up they would want to secede from the union, though he said he sees no reason why Texas should do that.

"There's a lot of different scenarios," Perry said. "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot."

He said when Texas entered the union in 1845 it was with the understanding it could pull out. However, according to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, Texas negotiated the power to divide into four additional states at some point if it wanted to but not the right to secede.
THAT's how you love America!

Did Jefferson Davis love America?

I think a lot of people, politicians and otherwise, confuse love of a country with blindly accepting everything that happens within it. I love a lot about the country, but I also think there's a lot wrong with it. If you are truly full of patriotism for your country, then you'll be willing to work tirelessly to make it the best it can be.

And I do think Jefferson Davis loved America because, as flawed as it was, he had a vision for what he thought would make the best America and he pursued it.

Ah the old, "I love my country so much I will secede from it and start a horrific, bloody war against it" kind of love! TRULY the BEST kind of love. The sort of love OJ had for Nicole.

I love me a good bloody war in the name of a country with no centralized government.
