Shanaynay is my favorite name ever.
I would buy 100 copies of this DVD if the princess was named Shanaynay.

"I think YOU'RE racist for suggesting that a perfectly black name like Shanaynay is racist."
Okay, so there's a preist, a rabbi,
And a black guy!

I thought her name was going to be Sofonda Peters.
Actually, it's about time there was a black Disny Princess.

Randy Newman on Family Guy -
was hilarious! And the fact that he was one of the only people to survive Y2K was a great little jab at his longevity.
btw - "Y2K? What are selling? Chicken or sex jelly?" LOL.

Supposedly Jennifer Hudson and Anika Noni Rose are being rumored for the lead.
I am SO disappointed that Alan Menken was kicked off the project. Randy Newman? Over Alan Menken?!?! I'll just never understand the world.
That said, I am really looking forward to Disney returning to 2-D animated musicals.

Personally, I prefer a name like Sophie/Sophia, Cordelia, or Cecilia. Actually, I love Minuette -- it's a friend's name.
Whatever her name is, it's great that they are going back to hand-drawn animation.

This whole project disturbs me.... the very idea is so contrived. New Orleans? Pander pander... Anyways the production art looks horrfic. There are REAL African fairytales and it is beyond me why they wouldn't use them.
Also a side note, she is not the first Black Disney Princess. That would be Aida which was turned into a Bway play..
At least this will buy time to get Repunzal back into the 2D animation world.
