Twenty years after that, The Clash would totally steal Lucy's Wild Cat look.
I liked when Ed told her she was the "most beloved star." I miss flipping channels and stumbling onto I Love Lucy episodes and having to watch them til the end. That just doesn't happen anymore. 850 cable channels and no Lucy.
They were on the Hallmark Channel. Now they don't play them anymore. Even though I own the box set I know what you mean, Namo. I loved just flipping around and finding an episode.

There should be a rule that if you're a network that owns I Love Lucy, you have to friggin show I Love Lucy.
I've always loved how Lucy stops herself from saying damn in that clip because prime-time just wasn't ready for that type of foul language back in 1960.
She's so good in this number, it almost makes up for how un-good she is in the movie of Mame.

Is the damn/darn joke in the play, or was it TV censorship?
Lucy, man. A joy forever.

"850 cable channels and no Lucy."
I have mixed feelings about that. While I think Lucy needs to be on tv, they've taken a lot of liberties at cutting the shows.
If you are a real Lucy fan, you need this. They've restored some edits that have never been seen since the first broadcast.
Additionally, the extras are great. They have some tiny bits of film that an audience member filmed during one filming. They have several of Lucy's radio shows that were the forerunner of I Love Lucy, which include Bea Benedaret and Gale Gordon. They point out flubs that were made during filming. The only thing I hate about this set is how judgmental the manufacturers were. There is a disclaimer stating something to the effect that at the time they didn't know how bad smoking was. Just let me enjoy Lucy, ciggies and all, and don't lecture.
From time to time they put this set on sale. I bought it for $89.95.

I am planning on getting it because I do adore the show, but I sort of hate the way the fragmentation of pop culture means if people don't own it, they probably won't see it. I guess that makes me a curmudgeon.
