Do you block 'unknown" or "private" callers on your cell phone?

Just want to know the pros or cons of setting phone to automatically block incoming calls identified only as UNKNOWN or PRIVATE. Seems like I'm suddenly getting a lot of Politician's robodial calls.

My sister-in-law does that. Problem is that when I call her from work, her phone won't take my call because I work for a company that has all their lines come through as unknown. I have no power to change that. So it's kind of annoying. But the message does tell me that I can avoid being blocked by dialing * something first. So any calls from human beings have the choice to call back, getting around the blocking.

I would totalyl do this, but Verizon tells me it is not an option for me. Does anyone with Verizon service know anything different?
