Do you tip at Curbside Take Away?

Yipes I hope not! This whole tipping thing is way out of hand! Someone told me that we should tip when we PICK UP pizza at the restaurant cause the girl who rings you up is a waitress and doesn't get paid much. And I am seeing more and more tip cups at 7-11 which makes me reel with disbelief.

You grab the food, step on the gas and yell, "Screw You!"

I would tip. I am a very much of the "tip no less than 20%" school at a restaurant and typically tip 15% at curbside pick up.

I can see the argument as to why you wouldn't, but I would if for no other reason than because it's a comped meal.

I did curbside pickup for the first time a few weeks ago for lunch at work and as I was leaving I realized I probably should have tipped... but seriously, they walk like, eight feet. Once. It's not THAT hard.

What about when you pick up Dry Cleaning? The server has to take your ticket, look for your items, bring them over, count them and then take your money. People who work in Dry Cleaning stores make nothing. I tip a dollar per item or so. And Librarians make very little too. I always tip a dollar per book when they provide service. Drive through window personel-- what are they but waiters who serve hundreds of people per shift! Don't forget to tip BOTH windows if you pay at one and pick up food at the other! And grocery store workers! especially if you have to ask where the dish soap is! If they say "Aisle 8" you give them a dollar. If the POINT to aisle 8, it's 3 dollars at least!

I guess I'm sick of establishemnts expecting me to pay their employees. It's ridiculous to tip a server for walking out to your car and handing you a bag.

Strippers and waiters are the only ones I tip.

Oh, bartenders too.

If someone makes a special effort to be friendly/pleasant at a drive-thru, I tip. That goes for carhops or the servers at fast-food places too.

But don't feel obligated to tip--not even to waiters if they're not making any effort to earn it.

Exactly Rath. And I have worked food service-- I don't blame anyone for hoping for a tip. My rage isn't towards the 7-11 Cashier who puts out a tip Cup or waiters who are getting paid bupkes for their hard work. It's the system that says it's OK to pay a waiter $3 an hour because they are going to get tips. I read an article about a fancy shmancy hair salon that is now taking 100% of the price of a haircut- the stylist gets %50 of any additional service they sell (Or overpriced "product" they sell) and tips. Ridiculous.

Tipping has become like applause or standing ovations. It used to be a recognition for outstanding work. Now it has become a customary expectation regardless of the performance/service.
