"I can't exactly get him a cat monocle, can I? It's pretentious." Britta, how are you so amazing in two minutes of screentime?
That said, Shirley and Jeff were the superstars this week, and I was especially happy to see the former finally getting some real character work instead of the usual "judgey Christian" role she's been stuck in this season. She and Jeff were fantastic together, and I hope that relationship keeps getting airtime - I'd hate to go two seasons between episodes about them again.
Also, everything is better with Abed-Batman. That's just incontrovertible fact.
(Hi smartpenguin!)
For something that appeared to have had all of the trappings of a filler episode, this was a pretty solid and inventive look at the dynamics of Shirley and Jeff and the three's company scenario with Annie, Troy, and Abed. Big Chedder vs. Tinkletown anime was so unexpected but goes to show why Community is the most original comedy on TV.
Forgot to mention - that last week's Soup episode had more fun ribbing on the haitus.
Per TVline.com - the blanket fort comes back for a 2 episode arc this season! loved the blanket fort!

Shirley was magnificent.
Abed/Batman only furthers my opinion that he ought to be a SERIOUS contender for a supporting actor Emmy.

I hate to admit it, but I almost cried at the very last moment of that episode.

No shame in that, baby!

MotorTink, that spoiler sounds delightful, but in future do you think you could label it as such, please? I like being surprised by whatever madness the show has to offer each week. :)
And dear lord, that hashtag. I facepalmed so hard I think I left a mark on my forehead.
I'm sorry, Plum!!
Shirley is so good on these episodes when they focus on these unexpected parts of her personality, she is an extremely under utilized part of the show.
#PierceOrChevy is so funny! I love it!
I simply cannot get enough of this show though, I am so upset that I won't be getting more of the show... for awhile.

I guess we'll be down to the DVDs and fanfic. WOE.
I can't believe this is our last episode before hiatus

excited for their glee Christmas episode tonight!!!
did anyone watch the Soup last night? most of the cast was on it last night and they are just hilarious! their chemistry in real life is so apparent... one of the many reasons why the show is equally awesome!
I think I can, without a doubt say, that was the best episode of the entire series so far.
Loved it but would not put it among my favorite episodes (Remedial Chaos Theory, Cooperative Calligraphy, Intermediate Documentary, and Advanced Dungeons & Dragons are my favorites of the series).
Annie going 'sexy baby' on Jeff and Shirley's Jesus moment were my favorites along with the Glee club teacher revelation. Taran Killam was aces in the Mr. Schuester role.
I've watched it twice already and it's just perfect.
Annie's number and Britta's response to Abed's "They're in your heart, Britta" are some of my favorite bits ever.
Also, the Dean's "Oh, Britta's in this" line made me almost piss me pants.
Just watched it again lol.
The Kings of Leon reference was amazing.

I thought it was a little too Glee-fixated - that show just isn't worth that much of Community's attention. But the parody aspects were brutally on-target, and any time Britta gets to dance it's a very, very good thing.
Glee's always gotten Community's attention, plus both came out the same year. I remember the AV Club did a For Your Consideration piece on how both shows are a lot more similar than what meets the eye, except that Community is a bit more intentional on its choices **cough better writing**cough**:
Sing a ling sing a ling sing a ling a ding dong
Well it was a GLEE parody so it needed to be Glee fixated.
I've now watched it 5 times.

Wow, when I was watching it, I was thinking, "I'll watch this at least ten times by Christmas" but Jordan puts me to shame. Even though it wasn't about Glee, I feel like this episode will repel a lot of people who normally don't watch the show and then I can say, "See? That's how I feel about GLEE!"
Glee was a metahpor for a lot more, at least to me and when they sang "We'll see you all after Regionals," I got a little teary eyed. And I ain't ashamed.
Honestly, I don't care what anyone thinks about this episode. I feel like it was written just for me.

I cried at that line, Phyllis. It had a series finale feel with a hopeful note at the end.
I hope classes resume next semester. I really really hope they do.

Yeah. In the spirit of the holiday, I'm still holding out hope for six seasons and a movie. I mean, for every Arrested Development there a Chuck, another very underwatched (and underappreciated, in my opinion) show. I mean, before a single hater starts with the "aren't there bigger problems in the world than the loss of Community?" bullsht, we know, we get it.
