...just unfunny.

It's like they sucked the humor out of it or something. Unless they did the opposite of most films and put NONE of the funny bits in the theatrical trailer/s.

Thoughts?

A little known fact is that in the original screenplay, Pan's Labyrinth was Pan's FLAByrinth. Hmmmmmmm...glad they changed it.

It is what it is. I'm sure there will be some good moments as well as some stinkers. After all, its the same writer, so it won't be that different. What's different is whether the audience will embrace it or not. I personally think they waited too long to make it.

I think it's going to be a bunch of crap. It's been too highly anticipated and I dont think that it's going to live up to everyones expectations.

Doesn't look all that great. Big budget and audience is pretty much in place, though.

I think the trailer for it is well put together. Even Jennifer Hudson didn't annoy me, and that's rare.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

I think it's past its expiration date. Watching four self-centered women has grown boring. The sex is no longer enticing, they've all hooked up with husbands. The only reason to see the movie is the glamor of the city.

On a more interesting theme, what products will the movie make popular (other than young girls moving to NYC)? Before the series, Magnolia Bakery was just a shop that sold dry cupcakes. When it was mentioned on the show, people started lining up to get in the store to buy dry cupcakes.

I'm suprised to hear that Goth finds sex between married people boring. Doesn't that run counter to your deeply held beliefs? Is that overpriced little apartment getting to you?

I've never found the TV series "funny". It's more like a drama with occasional bits of humor -usually involving naked Kim Catrall.

I don't think it was meant to be funny. I think the original source material was darker. I think the idea behind it was to take a Jane Austen theme and modernize it. However, the substance was thin, so they spent big money on the style of the show.

I think the writing on the show was terrific and the characters so wonderfully drawn out. I really love the fairy tale New York it depicts.

I thought the show was completely unfunny, so I would think the film would follow suit. Although I haven't seen the trailer.

That's true. It never was extremely funny. But it's fun to see NY locations and local shops.

Clean up the first weekend, afterwards, NO DEVIL WEARS PRADA. The core audience will get their fix early. To be must-see, it requires something to appeal beyond the fan base.

In June 2009, I predict it'll be popular on HBO.

I think the show has found a larger audience in syndication. I think the movie will do well. If it gets a PG-13 rating, I think younger girls will flock to it.

Sorry, it's just my way of making people read my posts. If I just leave all I wanna say in the thread title, then people are just contain their opinions to themselves, when I want opinions. I do it with a lot of my threads.

I loved the show, but like many other people on this board, I didn't find it "funny." The girls were sarcastic and witty, but not funny. I think that the show started out on a more realistic note as opposed to the last two seasons it ran. I feel like the most believeable characters through the years were Carrie and Miranda. Not necessarily the way Carrie lived, but her personality. Samantha was too over the top- funny, but who really lives like that? And Charlotte was just too much of the "miss goody two shoes." How did she even meet up with the rest of them? But, I still love the show, still miss it, and can't wait to see the movie!!!!!

I don't know if it looks as funny as the series, but that might not be a bad thing. I'm betting it will be wonderful.
