Does anyone like the movie Newsies?

Hey all... I'm a newbie here. And i would like to chat with people, so i thought i'd make a post about one of my interests...
I was wondering how many of you like the movie Newsies. I know alot of theatre people love it, which is exactly the reason why I do. I'm not obsessed-obsessed with it, but it is my favorite movie of all time. And i could listen to the soundtrack for hours! So how likes it?

BB21 - Not only do I love NEWSIES (anyone remember when they showed on Disney like once a week?) but I also love your pic of anythony rapp. what a baby doll. welcome to the boards!

Newsies!!!! AH! I love Newsies. All the music, the dance (especailly the bell kicks and the pelvic thrusting.), it's so exciting. I've never been able to figure out why it's not a Broadway show.

I loved Newsies from the first time I saw it in the movie theatre years ago. I would love to see it on stage.

I hate this movie. It seems designed for 13 year old girls and pedophiles. A bunch of teenaged boys shaking their butts in incredibly inappropriate-for-the-period choregraphy.

Or, as I called it when it first came out, "New Kids on the Block in Knickers"

But, I think NEWSIES is so good. I think the soundtrack is better than the movie itelf, though. Can Menken write anything sucky? NOPE!!!

This movie probably has a LOT to do with me being a performer. The energy and personality these boys gave off was incredible and I spent a ot of time singing along and doing backflips in my living room, pretending I was in it on Broadway...not that it was a show yet, but I had high hopes.

I used to play the soundtrack and act it out in my bedroom. I used to jump off my bed in gigantic leaps while singing. So much fun.

I like the movie and the songs but... I didn't like at all Christian bale. I think that there are much more good singers and actors than him.
and btw, my favourite part of the soundtrack is not written by menken, it's the underscore music wrote by jac redford.

A local theatre put it on when I was like 6. I played a little newspaper boy. Hahah I had on an Irish cap, suspenders, khakis rolled up to my knees. It was my first show. And if it was possible to realize you adored the stage when you were 6 and a chorus girl/boy, I did. When was this movie released?
What is Broadway? A street? Some say it's a street. Some say it is the best street in the world. Others think its terrible. That's the beauty of it, it's terribly beautiful. Some hate it and don't know why. Others love it and don't know why. That's what makes it so wonderful, it's a mystery.

I didn't like NEWSIES when I saw it a long time ago but I'd be willing to give it another veiwing. I liked Christian Bale in "Little Women."

I never saw newsies but isn't the song "King of New York" from it? That was in a revue I did. It's a pretty good song (to many rehearsals though made it kind of annoying)

I love it, it's such a comfort movie. I was 11 or 12 when it came out, probably helping me love it more than I would if I were viewing it today for the first time. I hated Davey though. That actor makes me homicidal. And yeah, while watching bare, all I could think at the beginning was how that was Mush up there. Such a geek.

BlueWizard- Aaron being in Bare is alot of the reason why I downloaded the sampler, but now i'm in love with the show! lol

And I also don't really like Christian is Newsies... It IS funny to watch how many times his accent slips though.
