Well, I may not be his biggest fan, but whenever I listen to his music/lyrics, I just feel inspired to start writing.
Although I don't care for his shows overall, he inspired me to write my play that got an A+.

Whenever I sing his music, I am inspired to do an easier show.
I love to listen to Sondheim's works, but performing them can be a byotch.
I thought I knew what this song meant when I was fifteen. It means something very different to me now.
===
You're either a poet
Or you're a lover,
Or you're the famous
Benjamin Stone!
You take one road.
You try one door.
There isn't time for any more.
One's life consists of either/or.
One has regrets,
Which one forgets,
And as the years go on...
The road you didn't take
Hardly comes to mind,
Does it?
The door you didn't try--
Where could it have led?
The choice you didn't make
Never was defined,
Was it?
Dreams you didn't dare
Are dead.
Were they ever there?
Who said?
I don't remember,
I don't remember at all.
The books I'll never read
Wouldn't change a thing,
Would they?
The girls I'll never know--
I'm too tired for.
The lives I'll never lead
Couldn't make me sing.
Could they?
Could they?
Could they?
Chances that you miss--ignore!
Ignorance is bliss--what's more,
You won't remember.
You won't remember at all!
Not at all...
You yearn for the women,
Long for the money,
Envy the famous
Benjamin Stones!
You take your road...
The decades fly..
The yearnings fade,
The longings die.
You learn to bid them all goodbye.
And, oh, the peace,
The blessed peace
At last you come to know..
The roads you never take
Go through rocky ground,
Don't they?
The choices that you make
Aren't all that grim.
The worlds you never see
Still will be around,
Won't they!
The Ben I'll never be...
Who remembers him?
I know exactly what you mean, PJ.
Do you, MEFfie? I've been seeing too damn many friends self-destruct and flame out: leaving their LTRs for trophy boyfriends, OD'ing on crystal or alcohol or HIV or mental illness, or just plain getting tired of their careers and their ambitions driving their lives. Everyone's searching for some elusive meaning of life.
Lord, lord, lord, lord, lord! That woman is me...
That song has such a deep, personal meaning that it can basically be used in the context of every person's life, in my opinion. You can just scratch the name "Benjamin Stone" and insert your own name, and the lyrics will always seem to wrap around you. Everybody starts out wanting something so badly and truly, but 99% of the time, they don't achieve it in the end. It's sad.
That song makes me cry.
Yes.
He does.
I've found PASSION inspires me more than any other, perhaps because I can see a lot of Fosca in me, and SITPWG is pretty high up there too...
he does inspire me. not necessarily to write a musical because how could I possibly write anything better than what he has given us? I enjoy all his work. even BOUNCE. "What's Your Rush" and "You" are brilliant.
