Don't Ask, Don't Tell: Obama Administration Asks 9th Circuit Court Of Appeals To Reconsider Order
Just hold out long enough so the undecideds don't think you are REALLY assisting the queers in pushing their agenda!
Whoa! Are you saying that Barak is not acting as our fierce advocate?
Well this is a shock to the system.
(on a side note, he can go f**k himself six ways to Sunday.)
Just what are President Obama's feelings toward gay people anyway? Actions speak louder than words I know, and by that standard he mustn't really care that much. How much of it is politics and how much is his own personal opinion?
Rhetorical questions I suppose, since nobody probably knows the answer.

I hate to sound like an idiot, but I'm confused the more articles I look up on this. Is the Obama administration wanting to go back on the decision to repeal DADT (which doesn't make any sense to me that they'd do an about-face like that) or are they just basically wanting to stick to the plan of a gradual implementation of the rescind in the military (what it sounds like to me) while the 9th Circuit Court is saying no, this needs to happen immediately?
It sounds like they're wanting the same thing, just one a little later and the other a lot sooner. Am I even half way understanding any of this??
If I am....not sure I have the wisdom to know which way is best. In a perfect USA, then yes, gays should be allowed to serve openly in the military and it should have been that way since forever. But since it's not a perfect country (God bless it), maybe there is good cause to lift the ban in a bit more gradual manner? I mean I don't know. I'm asking.

It's that Obama wants it to happen on the military's time. My understanding is that he feels a sudden end by the courts would be detrimental either to this transition time or to backlash from politicians. I don't believe he's flip flopping.
He'll certainly have no problem campaigning to the gay community by saying he "ended Don't Ask Don't Tell", though.
