Drowsy Chaperone Casting Suggestions...

Hi Guys,
Im currently producing The Drowsy Chaperone with a relativly small company and may need to double some male parts....just wondering your thoughts and suggestions..say if we were to double, which guys to double who and how it would work???

How small is your company? There are a lot of male parts in the show, so doubling would only confuse the audience more (when I saw it the first time, I thought Feldzeig and Underling were the same person). You could cut out the ensemble and have principles do all of the ensemble roles.

Hmm, the Gangsters could quite easily be cast as Female. I was thinking about how many male parts there actually were when I saw it recently.

I agree with Dannys suggestion - cut the ensemble and just have the principles. There is so little for the ensemble anyway and it works surprisingly well without an ensemble (if not better, feels more intimate).
