This is for anyone who saw "Eastern Promises" in the theater. Was the Russion dialogue subtitled?
I watched the film on DVD tonight, and the Russian dialogue was NOT subtitled. That was fine; I got the gist of what was going on. However, I was curious what would be on screen if I turned on the subtitles for the hearing-impaired. The Russian was translated!
Hmmm ...

Hahaha. That's funny, wexy. I read the novel and would have had a much easier time if it had been in English!
As far as EASTERN PROMISES goes, I thought it was very disappointing and very mediocre. Wonderful acting and direction, but the plot left nearly EVERYTHING to be desired. Pointless.
