This is for anyone who saw "Eastern Promises" in the theater. Was the Russion dialogue subtitled?

I watched the film on DVD tonight, and the Russian dialogue was NOT subtitled. That was fine; I got the gist of what was going on. However, I was curious what would be on screen if I turned on the subtitles for the hearing-impaired. The Russian was translated!

Hmmm ...

Saw it in theatres, and I'm 99% positive that they subtitled the Russian dialogue.

I saw it in the theater and I was about to say that I'm pretty sure it was NOT subtitled. So much for my memory and powers of observation.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson

A friend told me last night that it was NOT subtitled in the theater.

Again, I say, "Hmmm ..."

I saw it on dvd and there were no subtitles. I wonder if that affects one's enjoyment? I found it a bore after a while.

I thought that it was a very interesting film. (I wish that "Trainspotting" had been subtitled).

Hahaha. That's funny, wexy. I read the novel and would have had a much easier time if it had been in English!

As far as EASTERN PROMISES goes, I thought it was very disappointing and very mediocre. Wonderful acting and direction, but the plot left nearly EVERYTHING to be desired. Pointless.
