Romantico - The exact same thing happened to me. It was really stressful. I had insured the item that I sold, so I told them if the item was damaged in transit, they had to file a complaint with the USPS and if they took the item and the damaged packaging into their local Post Office, they could request the money. The item was insured for $350, which was the price they paid.

But I also told them that I would contact the USPS myself to dispute their claim, as the item was in perfect condition when shipped, I had taken photos of the item from every angle before it was packaged, and unless they showed damaged packaging to the USPS, then I could not possibly see how the item was damaged in transit.

This disagreement lasted several months, and the person kept demanding a full refund and they were going to report me. I also contacted PayPal, but they really couldn't do anything for me.

I demanded that the person email to me photos of the damaged article (mainly for my own curiosity). To my astonishment, they showed the item totally DESTROYED. Upon receipt of the photos, I wrote back a final scathing email where I categorically rejected all their claims. And that was the end, I never heard back.

If they send the item back to you, can't you refuse it and "return to sender"?

Here i am with a horrible paypal experience! lol.

Cameras again (and bad luck). I bought a camera from a store on line, not ebay. I paid $184 through paypal.

I don't receive the camera, I don't receive any replies from the company through emails, and I eventually find out it was a bogus store. This must have been one of those organized crime things.

Anyway, paypal refused to refund me one cent, although they said they ruled in my favor. Why no refund? Because the crooks took the money, closed their accounts, and ran.

I was pretty angry because I thought paypal owed me the money. They have plenty of money and they ruled in my favor. What good was that?

WOw, I guess I should consider myself lucky. Sorry to hear about both your experiences. The Rep from ebay said he files a dispute it will be through Paypal and not ebay so they are the ones I need to focus on. The rep said I have the long delay in my favor plus him leaving me positive feedback is something PAYPAL will question. He left positive feedback on the 7th of August and sent me this email today the 6th of September. He could have done a lot of damage in that time. I still don't understand how someone can pay that kind of money, acknowledge they received the item, obviously are satisfied and leaves positive feedback only to change their mind a month later. Its Larry Craig pleading guilty and then asking to change his guilty plead from guilty to innocent.It,like Larry, is all very shady.

yeah, well, as with many things in life, a certain amount of luck is involved. I keep that in mind every time I bid on ebay.

That's why you should always buy with credit cards. I bought a very expensive TV set on line that never showed up. It was a bogus company too (depite my reseach, because their feedback and reviews were bogus too!). I used my American Express card. I contested the charge, and less than 3 weeks later, it was removed from my account. And the customer service couldn't have been nicer.

And I didn't have any special buyer protection plan. I just used my regular card. The merchants who accept these cards sign contracts/agreements with Amex, Visa & MasterCard. They have to deliver the goods or they will be charged back on their accounts by those companies.

So... I filed the complaint, it was completely wiped off my account, and I bought the same TV elsewhere (with free delivery and my tax paid) with the same Amex card.

Seriously... No major purchases of ANY kind (whatever amount you consider "major") without putting it on a credit card!

Word to the wise.

You can use American Express as your form of payment with PayPal, too!
