I'm fond of the POTUS but man am I sick of the pissin' contest between Putin and him.  Russia launches an air strike against ISIS/ISIL targets but a White House mouthpiece claims that they were simply targetinglesser-knowns that Assad has beef with.  Do these people think we were born yesterday?

Meanwhile, we await the House's action on a temporary spending bill before midnight the deadline to fund the gov't till 12/11.  I find the timing of the air strikes suspect.  This whole game of brinkmanship is so last millennium.

This is how men are.

It will be different with a woman president.

What would the timing of Russia's airstrikes have to do with the spending bill?

I'm starting to think that both the US and Russia are both telling the story their own ways.(lying)

Remember there's one side , the other side and the truth.

I think the budget remark was referring to paying to military women and men here and overseas, but who knows?

The Russian ambassador just told the UN not to believe the Pentagon.

Just what we need another war. This can only get worse.

PJ, I've been unusually snarky today.  At first glance, it's a stretch to regard the recent Papal visit and the Russian airstrikes as conveniently-timed distractions from the budget battle.  But, this area is home to tens of thousands of gov't contractors and federal employees who sense the inevitability of a shutdown, either an orderly one tomorrow or a really painful one on Dec 12.  And this time around there is no provision for military pay during a shutdown.

So, we're wary enough to consider the possibility of one party ratcheting up tensions with a frenemy to ensure continued funding and the lifting of the national debt ceiling.

We also believe the other party is deliberately obfuscating Planned Parenthood's funding structure to depict Hillary as an abortion queen ahead of the general election.  Informed voters are aware that PP's budget is made up of very little discretionary federal funding.  Nevertheless, since many feminists and some men consider abortion a woman's issue exclusively, Hillary owns it, right, wrong, or otherwise.  It's not an burden that a male in her position is forced to bear.  Ted Cruz is banking on low-info voters associating Hillary and company with baby killers.

Think I'm paranoid much...read on at...http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2015/09/30/3707380/mccarthy-benghazi-hillary-clinton/  Boehner's successor will NOT be a moderate!

There is no way any of the Russian stuff has to do with budget battles.  You do seem paranoid.  As for me I'm all for Russian influence in Syria, bring it on.

"There is no way any of the Russian stuff has to do with budget battles."

I respectfully disagree.  It always involves money.  Military campaigns have to be funded and troops (and mercenaries) have to be paid!

I reiterate that this time around there is no provision for military pay in the event of a shutdown.  Our gov't would in effect force active duty personnel to work without compensation.  Details at http://thehill.com/policy/defense/254928-pentagon-begins-to-plan-for-a-government-shutdown

Buzzfeed Politics has a surprisingly smart rundown of why Russia is bombing Syria, and it's not something to be happy about.
