Who's watching? Baba Wawa finally came up with a good one-she asked Elisabeth to actually say why Palin would make a good president, should she find herself in that position.

Elis answered with-"Tell me why Obama would make a good president."

Gotcha, Elisabeth!

I have, to my knowledge, one Republican friend. And he always does the same thing: when faced with a bare-bones question that, really, has no sane answer (e.g., "Do you really think Bush is a good president, and if so, why?"), he responds with a table-turning question of his own ("Oh, you really think Kerry would have been better?").

And sherri Einstein's contribution today so far is that she has to floss her child's tooth, and she knows all about the celebrity dancing show.

And she had, like, 70 abortions herself so she knows it's wrong--and no one else should have them, ever!

I know she's a dope, but I actually prefer Sherri's presence to Elisabeth's. I have an almost violent reaction to Hasselbeck.

I watch the first 15 minutes but can now only enjoy Joy. I'm a big fan of Goldberg, but I'm afraid Woopie is too often too safe, too comfortable playing the mealy-mouthed arbiter. And some days, it just feels phoned in. Can't help but think what this fall would've been like with O'Donnell.

Auggie, I've always had affection for Joy but this group together just doesn't work. They're a bunch of yentas who take EVERYTHING PERSONALLY, constantly talk over one another and can barely hide their disdain. Look at Rachel Maddow and Pat Buchanan. They couldn't be more different in ideology but, time and again, they're able to debate civilly! I love passionate conversations, but polite discourse has really gone out the window on this show. And I don't care what they say...I don't believe for one second that backstage it's a lovefest.

I'm the type that likes impolite discourse, Blue. I can watch tv on Sunday mornings if I want more serious and polite debating,

but I love the drama on the View.

Well, that's kind of the problem in this country....drama rubbernecking replacing discourse, no?

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

Yeah- I love how everytime they ask Elisabeth to answer- she always turns the question around- like all the other Republican commentators. That's what so irritating. But what I thought was funny was after this heated conversation came back from a commercial break- not only did Elisabeth not fully answer her question- but they went to a discussion on teeth! They just ignored it all together. I get the most annoyed with Sherri when she talks about Jeffrey- in fact, I now hate the name Jeffrey! However, her stupidity does not irritate me because I think she tries to be polite and funny and she doesn't interrupt everyone else when she's trying to get her point in. She also doesn't talk a mile a minute. I loved how Barbara said she didn't like the fact that Palin was cramming for the exam and then when they asked Elisabeth a question, she made some snide comment about how she knew the answer because she had crammed for the exam (or something to that effect). You know the discussion will get heated when Barbara comes in with them.

guys, guys! There's something for everyone. The View isn't meant to be anything more than yentas babbling. I enjoy that, and I also enjoy and learn from more serious and meaningful discussions on other shows.

I'm not a one-note kind of moron!

I saw that today too, when Barbara asked EH the direct question about Palin, and was shocked when, after weeks of (loudly, rudely, whiningly) interrupting everyone else to SAY WHY Palin would supposedly be a good candidate, she responded with a turn-the-tables question. What a jerk, how could she do that? They had to go to break but even Whoopi looked at her disappointingly, because I see how Whoopi does try to let EH get her say in. (That's why EH is there, ostensibly, after all.) But she gives EH all the rope she can muster, trying to give EH chances to not embarass herself. And Elisabeth always hangs herself.

You're on TV. WHY do you do this to yourself, Elisabeth?!? I can't stand her because she does not speak in a dignified broadcast manner, does not sound smart, and now, does not even seem to respect herself or her career.

(Saw her make that crack in response to Barbara comparing it to 'cramming for an exam' too, and thought that took some guts to mouth off obnoxiously to Barbara right on TV. And the direct question about Palin came AFTER that and Barbara still gave her a chance to redeem herself and she blew it.)

"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had the practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." --Alice in Wonderland

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
