re: elizabeth montgomery

I wish it was here, we already have Lucy sitting on a bench here, and Sonny Bono (ugh) by a fountain here......brass statues seem to work here

I do find it odd that heres was in Salem. Does she have any connection to Salem at all? And the whole witch thing doesn't count.
It would be like putting a statue of Boris Karloff in Transylvania
It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story... AGATHA CHRISTIE, Life magazine, May 14, 1956

Again, it's NOT a statue of Elizabeth Montgomery. It's a statue of SAMANTHA - paid for by TV LAND. It's in Salem because that's where witches supposedly were, and they set a few episodes of the show there. Mary Tyler Moore idsn't from Minneapolis, but her show was set there - that's why the statue of MARY RICHARDS is there.

re: elizabeth montgomery

I adored Elizabeth Montgomery. I grew up watching Bewitched, and I enjoyed her throughout her career. We lost her way too soon. However, putting up a statue of Samantha in Salem seems tacky, and as many folks have said, cheesy and theme-parky. Just a gimmicky publicity stunt by a cable channel to increase viewers. When is their "special" detailing it manufacture and unveiling, I wonder. Cheapening to a tragic part of American history and to Elizabeth Montgomery as well. Yuck.
