OMG! Obama has made a decision and GOTH disapproves! STOP THE PRESSES! I am shocked, shocked! He might as well step down and let Biden take his turn. When you've lost Goth, you've lost America.
All of my knowledge of Emanuel is (at least) second hand, but he seems perfectly suited for this position. If Obama's administration will be run like his campaign (and why wouldn't it be?), Emanuel should be an advocate for discipline and consistency of message.

The only thing that really went wrong in the National Election was not getting a filibuster-proof Senate. I really don't trust Republicans to work with Obama's policies. I guess that's a goal for the next election.

That remark is pretty witless and not very clever. Do you have any idea how many people in the world have studied something and work in a completely different field? Being a trained dancer doesn't make his political career any less valid - any more than Palin being a self-professed hockey mom.
But you overlooked her self "deprecating" didn't you?
And given that this is a Broadway website, I'll add that to be a ballet dancer you need incredible concentration, discipline, focus and skill.
You can say my glass if half-full - but I'd say those are all GREAT things for any politician to have.

The senate count was and is an overstated issue. The Dems do not want to push through a lot of legislation with straight party line 60/40 splits. Also, the Democrats are not monolithic, so unanimity can't be assumed.

Very cool news. It will be interesting to see who else fills out Obama's yitters.

Goth is channeling Reagan's disdain for his son being a ballet dancer.

Anyone else see homophobia is Goth's use of the word "ballerina"?
Is this a reference to a pre-Stonewall manner of gender-reversal?
Is this to impute homosexuality on the part of Rep. Emmanuel?
Or is this to use the feminine form of the word as a put-down? In which case it's misogynistic not homophobic.

Rahm Emanuel Fun Facts:
He was the inspiration for the Josh Lyman (Bradley Whitford) character on The West Wing.
He has an older brother, Ari, who ia a Hollywood talent agent, and is the inspriation for Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) on Entourage.

Craig, your response is also witless, and poorly written as well.
"Being a trained dancer does make his political career any less valid" Huh???
Self-deprecating should have a hyphen and your quotes should be around the entire word, not just "deprecating".
So there are two degrees of separation between Rahm Emanuel and Jeremy Piven?
Hot.
I'll grant you the fact I typed quickly and didn't make does-doesn't.
As for the second correction - I disagree since I'm intentionally calling attention to the deprecating.
Is that really all you have? Spelling and grammar?

Spelling and grammar are important for communicating written ideas.
And you spelled intentionally wrong.
Thanks. I corrected it.
Now I guess you have nothing to add.
"Spelling and grammar are important for communicating written ideas."
Like calling someone a ballerina?

Don't be so pedantic Gothampc , this is the internet and people often write fast and short-cut. Have you ever travelled abroad? Do you criticize everyone you run into who says a statement grammatically wrong? Or do you only accept Oxford-Cambridge English?
Perfect choice...it's on!

I love that he's the inspiration for Josh Lyman. Now if we can just get Kristin Chenoweth a staff job for a little bit in Obama's second term, perhaps all my wildest "The West Wing" fantasies will come true.

Well, we know that DeeDee Myers was C.J. Craig, and George Stephanopolous was Sam Seaborn.
I'm thinking David Axelrod is the Toby Zeigler of the Obama administration.
