Maybe it's because of their convuleted seasons but USA has been getting ignored ever since Monk was retired. There are a lot of quality shows on that network that deserve some Emmy love. Psych, In Plain Sight, Burn Notice, Royal Pains and White Collar to name a few. And I'm enjoying both of the new shows - Necessary Roughness and Suits - but I'm guessing they premiered too late to be considered. All of these shows have snappy writing, directing, and acting. I think Mary McCormack especially deserves a nomination. I recently read an article that made fun of Psych for having 10 acting submissions. Why? They have a great cast and great guest stars. The season five finale alone had some great work in it. Ally Sheedy - so good.

And I'm happy for Betty White too. I normally don't like when people win for sentimental reasons, but I think I'd allow it for Betty. I hope she does get it, despite her win last year for SNL.

It's incredibly disappointing that there is no love for Community. However, I'm pleased as punch that Peter Dinklage got a nomination.

Ed O'Neill gets my (totally imaginary) vote as well.

As for Nathan Lane--and I don't mean this unkindly--he's one of the series' few missteps, IMO. Wonderful actor though he is, he just doesn't belong in the world they've created.

I hope this is the year for Michael C Hall and Steve Carell. They both have been overlooked every year and both are well deserving of Emmys.

Also disappointed (though not surprised) that Parenthood was totally overlooked. Great show with some pretty great acting - especially from Peter Krause.

"Parks and Recreation.
Cat Deeley.
Ed O'Neill.

it's about time."

Ditto, and "So You Think You Can Dance" getting a Best Reality Competition nomination.

Other thoughts:

*Last year, I didn't think "Amazing Race" deserved a nomination, but this year it DOES and I hope it wins.

*Nick Offerman and Aziz Ansari should have gotten a nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

*Rob Lowe was also snubbed for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.

*I don't think "Glee" and "30 Rock" deserved their nominations for Best Comedy. Both shows has gone downhill.

*I am glad that Gwyneth submitted "The Substitute" instead of the "Sexy" episode.

*Tina Fey and Kristin Chenoweth definitely deserved their nominations for Best Female Guest Star in a Comedy Series and so did Justin Timberlake and Matt Damon for Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.

I wouldn't call Kathy Bates being nominated a "headscratcher". She's great on Harry's Law.

I feel like Madeline Kahn as Mrs. White reading these nominations.

30 Rock had a fine season but they and The Office have reached its grace period sans writing for certain episodes, Tina Fey, and Alec Baldwin. Community should have been nominated and so should have Cougar Town.*

Busy Phillipps won the Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress and no nomination. I would have removed Kristen Wiig who was a major WTF nomination. I know she has been nominated twice but why do that in a good showing this year in the category?

Yeah Walton Goggins in Justified but no John Noble who also won a Critics Choice Award for his role in Fringe. Anna Torv also got screwed. Kathy Bates? That is the biggest indicator of an age gap. Katey Segal once again shut out. I love Mariska Hargitay but I would have put a few in front of her.

Emmys do not take to genre shows (if BSG's lack of major hardware was no indicator in the past). Outside of Game of Thrones nomination for Best Drama Series little to no people were actors, actresses, or the shows themselves nominated in major categories. Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead had a shot but his category was too strong even without Cranston. TWD and Fringe easily could have taken Dexter's spot. TWD submitted their pilot, arguably one of the best pilots in recent memory, and no Outstanding Drama Series nomination, not even a directing or writing nomination for Frank Darabont for that pilot. I know the show was all the way in October/November but it deserved more nominations than its other AMC sibling, The Killing.

Yeah to January Jones not being nominated and boo to Kiernan Shipka not being considered. Honestly, she is one of the best child actors on TV.

Glee deservedly had less nominations with Colfer deserving his spot but I really think Jane Lynch's nomination is conveniently forgetting how much the writing screwed up her character. Then again, it was the writing and not her. Heather Morris and Naya Rivera would have been my choices from the show.

Jon Cryer still managed to get nominated in an embarrassment of riches category? I hate Emmy voters.

Nothing for Community in any category, not even Joel McHale in lead. Not even Betty White's pretty great against type guest appearance on the premiere got nominated. I really hate Emmy voters. Dan Harmon actually really went to bat for the show in the process carefully picking the episodes and not even did they get writing nominations despite having some of the more inspired episodes on TV that I have seen in years.

Some cast members of Glee really lost their minds in their submission process. Both Max Adler and Mike O'Malley (who should know better) submitted under Best Supporting Actor. I am sure Darren Criss submitted in Guest Actor, FWIW, but if it was not Silly Love Songs episode that he chose than that was likely the reason.

Parks & Rec got a nod as did Amy, which I am happy but no Lowe, no Offerman (I like Aziz Ansari as a comic but his role this season seemed less forming), and not even Megan Mullally's deranged Tammy 2 get nominations?

You could seriously make an awards show with all of the categories just for the snubs. It has been a great year of TV but it seems the Emmys ignore quite a lot.

I've tried so hard to like Parks and Recreation. I've watched about five episodes, and it's like Everybody Loves Raymond to me - one of those shows that no matter how I try I just don't think is funny.
Guess we all have those shows, huh?

For those wondering, this article talks about the problem of determining when an actor should be considered a guest star, and recent rule changes that have affected the category:

"The academy's attempt to keep pace with the primetime pop-in-star-palooza began in 1993, when the guest categories were created to remedy a similar unequal-competition problem. Until then, the only available acting categories were lead and supporting, so guest stars had to compete with their hosts as supporting. Awkward! So the guest Emmy began, with a limit of three episodes per contestant. In 1997, that was raised to six episodes. In 2007, episode limits were removed. The result has been new forms of illogical competition. This year, one-time Memphis Beat guest Giovanni Ribisi must compete against 13-episode Mad Men player Robert Morse. To have the option of submitting for a guest Emmy, guest stars must be billed as such on a show.

But guests can also choose to enter the race as supporting contenders. Justified's breakout star Margo Martindale, whose character died in the season finale, is doing just that, perhaps because Dexter's 12-episode guest Julia Stiles appears more unbeatable than supporting front-runner Kelly Macdonald of Boardwalk Empire. Shameless' Joan Cusack, with a meaty 11-show run, is doing the same and submitting herself as a guest."

See, I actually like that Nathan Lane was nominated for his stint on "Modern Family." I think the episode where Jay accidentally winds up hanging out with all the gay men and drunk bonds with Pepper was one of the best of the season.

And I hope to god Ed O'Neil finally is shown the love he deserves.

Am royally pissed off about no nods for Sons of Anarchy, especially the snub of Katy Sagal. She is amazing.
In the words of Kurt Sutter, "f*ck glee. hate those annoying, "please accept me for who i am", singing brats. there, i said it. are you happy?" I don't think they deserved to be nominated for 99% of the categories. I agree with whoever said Kurt is like nails on a chalkboard. The only redeeming thing about that show is Mike O'Malley, and he wasn't nominated for anything.

I am THRILLED about the Mad Men nominations, especially Elisabeth Moss. She had a superlative season and deserved her bump up in the Best Actress category. Im hoping that Alan Cumming wins Best Supporting Actor (Drama) for his work on The Good Wife instead of John Slattery, though. His Eli Gold is superb. Actually, I wish Vincent Kartheimer (Pete Campbell) had been nominated in Slattery's place.

Mayim Bialik deserved a nom for her work on The Big Bang Theory. Her Amy Farrah Fowler is hilarious! Terrific chemistry with Jim Parsons.

I like January but I agree with the rest of your statement. Kiernan Shipka is stunning. She's one of the best actresses on television, period (regardless of her age). That girl is very special.

A nom ination for Jon Cryer but not Nick Offerman? Do these people even watch television? Criminal. I mean, I actually like Cryer. But is this some kind of consolation prize for being a good sport in the face of Charlie Sheen's @ssholery?

To each his/her own, but Busy Philips' affectations make me want to smack the crap out of her. I find her distracting and the only unfunny actor on the show.
