En Vogue

How incredible were they and this album?

*Dances to "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)"*

re: En Vogue

I LOVE En Vogue. Shame there's not been a group with that kind of sound. As in vocal quality, etc.

and don't even try mentioning Destiny's Child. B-L-A-H.

back to positivity, anyone watch them on the Women Who Rock special kicking some major ass?
I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)

Oh please, I will admit Destiny's Child had some slammin' harmonies and a lot of good tracks, but it was always like one girl singing, and they definitely did not have the personality and style of En Vogue. Those girls all had distinctive voices, AND you got to hear all of them, instead of the star singer getting all the money notes and leaving the scraps to the lesser members. You know who I'm pointing to...

re: En Vogue

They were gorgeous and fab! I loved their voices.

Also, anyone remember Expose? They were more dance-driven/less R&B than En Vogue, but they had a lot of really fun songs.

re: En Vogue

Sigh. I owned this on tape back in middle school and listened to it all the time. I found it on CD at a little used CD shop when I was in college and bought it again. I still love it. These were some VERY talented ladies. I even loved their later stuff, especially "Don't Let Go (Love)" and "Riddle."

There'll be some lovemaking, heartbreaking, soul shaking...

Don't Let Go!

Love that song.
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

Miss them.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Ahhh...what wonderful nostalgia!
"I can't figure out what kind of life this is, comedy or tragedy, I just know it's showbiz. And what if I don't agree with the lines I have to read? They don't pay me enough, the way I see it."

I forgot about "Riddle"! That was a really good song. It's really too bad they fizzled out. Genuine talents, those gals.

re: En Vogue

Probably the best girl group of all time. They had the combination of beauty, individuality, and TALENT that these little strumpets nowadays only dream of. Destiny's Child came the closest and only after their third album. and thats not really saying much because although i LOVE Destiny's Child, they have nowhere near that combo that made En Vogue great. There was only one really awesome, beautiful, and talented singer with two alright looking, alright sounding other girls. En Vogue had FOUR Beyonces.

Exactly what I was trying to say, Tonya.

re: En Vogue

"Don't Let Go Love" is one of the hottest songs EVER recorded. Gosh, I miss these women.

I loved them. What are they doing now?

re: En Vogue

I think they've had a lot of member changes and stuff. There's just three of them now, though I don't know how many of them are the originals. They released an album in 2004, that I'm assuming didn't do very well.

On a side-note, Terry Ellis's solo CD was pretty good, too.
