I'm not jumping to any conclusions, but his statement that he doesn't remember anything sounds like something a lawyer might advise saying.
How can you not remember that you were going over 100 mph instead of 50? I know we have to wait to hear more info but so far, I don't know.

I read he suffered a concussion in the crash. It's normal to have some short term memory loss after a traumatic event. Especially with head trauma.
He did submit to a drug test and turned his cell phone over to authorities.

Yes, I heard it reported that he had his phone stored in his bag and only took it out to call 911. I guess at that point he was pretty alert.

I blame all of 9/11 on straight people. It's because they were straight that they bombed the World Trade Center and Pentagon. I mean, come on, it has to be a factor.

There is no proof of that. That claim/report comes directly from the Engineer's interview with NTSB. It is a convenient excuse and way to deflect any potential liability. We'll see how this evolves.... But we could be seeing charges and a major trial in future years.

NONE of it comes from the Engineer's interview with NTSB. That is absolutely false. The Engineer still maintains that he has no memory, at least as of the last NTSB press conference. The information / mention came from an assistance Conductor on board the train who was working in the dining car and heard a radio conversation between the Amtrak Engineer and the Engineer of a nearby SEPTA train which was, in fact, struck by an object about 10-12 minutes prior near the same location and the heard her Engineer state that his train had just been struck just before the accident happened. The time frame of that, according to the NTSB, sits squarely in the block of time the Engineer does not remember and the NTSB stated that a break in the Amtrak windshield looks like the break in the SEPTA windshield and the FBI has been called in to investigate that and an interview will be conducted with the SEPTA Engineer.
To suggest that it is a fabrication at this point is, at very best, ignorant of the NTSB's own statements.
