Yeah, I'm sorry, it's another one of those audition song threads. Usually I'm pretty good about selecting a song for shows, but this case is different. I'm auditioning for a big competition for musical theatre singing and I'm having trouble finding songs. The songs should be three minutes or less (but they can be altered to make them shorter) and age-appropriate (I'm 16). I am most comfortable in my classic-soprano range. Think Audra McDonald. I need two songs that have a lot of emotional power and build to a crescendo. Songs that are known to give chills. It is okay if they are slightly overdone. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Are you doing the Young Arts competition? Where they send you to Flordia?

And look at "Green Finch" from Sweeny Todd. Its done wonders for me! And also "Old Maid" from 110 in the Shade.

No it's the LA Spotlight Awards. And I was thinking of doing Old Maid! Thanks so much!

Lonely House from street scene by Kurt Weill is chilling.
It's a guy song, but works brilliantly for a chick.

both 'The Beauty Is' and 'The Light In The Piazza' (from said show) are beautiful

'Migratory V' from Myths and Hymns is pretty

'Much More' from The Fantastics is a brilliant choice, but doesn't do much in the way of a journey

will think of more xx
