came across this by accident but find it oddly very entertaining. Barbara Frum was kinda Canada's Barbara Walters--except she did much better, and less kiss-ass interviews (she died early of cancer.) This was one of her very first, with Jacqueline Susann shortly after The Great Love Machine came out. Her elitism is hysterical, IMHO, but so are Jacqueline's responses-- Frum very publicly would later talk about the interview as her worst ever, and admit she went about it all wrong because back then she really felt she had something she had to prove.

Wow, Cudos to Jacqueline for they way she handled herself! Amazingly strong woman who will not take crap or be made to look bad!
he loses me a bit when she starts to ask about Frum's father's job--but otherwise, that's exactly how I felt when watching it. Her attitude towards writing books now would seem to be taken for granted (and from the books I've read going through my grandma's paperbacks as a kid she's certainly better than Wallace--)
Eric, the title of Susann's novel is THE LOVE MACHINE not THE GREAT LOVE MACHINE...that would be a good title for the sequel, though...LoL
OMG, What a bitch that Barbara is! I love the way Jacqueline handled her!
She apologized later--I think she resented that early on she was given all he "light" interviews and she wanted to make her name as a serious political journalist. How ridiculous is her question about if Jacqueline hates herself in the middle of the night?
Carlos, thanks for the correction, LOL.
Wow...I just love Jacqueline Susann. She handled this uptight, pretentious, snot-nosed reporter so well and knocked her down from her self-righteous soap box.
Was she a bit drunk? I agree, the way she handles it is epic.
Thanks for posting. This could have been a trainwreck, but Susann just glides over it all. I wish I could be this cool when I'm patronized and attacked.
