Erykah Badu Video "controversy"(?)

Saw the video yesterday and it hit CNN today. She was asked to be on Rick's List and declined but tweeted about the video. Evidentally children were present. Not sure if she did this unannounced or not. I didn't see children present near the end of the video.

I've always liked her, but I'm just sort of shruggy about this. I do think it's in kind of poor taste and I'm not sure she really makes the point she says she's trying to make, but whatevs.
Badu wrote that she was "too busy lookin for cops" to be shy about her nudity, though she was aware that children were around and “prayed they wouldn’t b traumatized.”

Here is her full explanation. Joe, I have been a fan of hers since her first CD and have followed her. I don't think this is a publicity stunt. She is sending her own kind of message. She can be out there. I have seen her 3 times in concert and there are times she just goes into her own little world and you just kind of go with it. I am not sure if I have a problem with kids being present. I suspect that her statement about the kids was an honest one but her thought was that it is just the human body. That's how this woman thinks. I love her and the new CD is really good. Just my thoughts.

I like Erykah, even if my actual-listening-to-her died down with the last two albums. I just can't see it as a publicity stunt coming from a woman like her. I don't know that she accomplished what she wanted to, though.

I honestly can't care about the children who were around. I can't say it was appropriate, but I also can't summon that much outrage for some nonsexualized nudity.

Craww, I agree. I don't think it wasn't a publicity stunt. For anyone who follows her, you know she thought this out.

I don't listen to the last CD much but I do like everything else. Mama's Gun is my favorite.

I found it more disturbing that the CNN article said there were so many children and families because the location of Kennedy's assassination is now a "tourist attraction". I don't see how stripping for a music video is any worse than bringing the whole family to pose for pictures and buy souvenirs.

Orange, that's why during the 2 times I visited ground zero, I didn't take any pictures. One person I went with couldn't understand why I wouldn't.

Acting, you must not be a fan then. She has recorded a few more albums and won a few Grammys since Tyrone came out.

She has done a few interviews since the video and it wasn't a publicity stunt. I also heard she was fined and paid.
