Ewan Wants To Do A MOULIN ROUGE Sequel...

Can't see a sequel without Kidman/Satine. The story was PERFECT on its own. Great beginning, middle, and superb ending.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

How about Ewan starring in the BAT BOY film??

Have heard nothing about a stage version. Just "it'd be nice."

I dont' think there should be a sequel, but musical theater sounds like a great idea... seems like he's doing it now anyway

I'm with Rose....it seems like the movie wrapped up pretty much at the end, a sequel would just ruin it.

And I think I have to agree with broadway86 as well. I don't necessarily want a sequel or a stage version. I don't think a stage version could do what the film did...why try to go for more? Just watch the DVD...

I think there should be a series on the WB based on it starring Brandi as Satine's long lost whore child.

I agree with ShuQ. A stage version would not be anywhere as exhilirating as the movie was, because the movie was such a unique experience that I domn't think it could be replicated on stage. Without the cinematography and production design of the movie, it would have been awful. I mean, let's be honest, the movie has a pretty weak story.

Baz Luhrmann's style is so very personal and unique, a sequel would probably end up looking identical to the original after another two years in the editing room.

the only movie i've been thinking: WHY THE HELL AM I HERE! WHY AM I WASTING MY MONEY AND TIME ON THIS! DAMN IT SUCKS!

visually it was stunning.

there's no sequel to la traviata...therefore no sequel to moulin.

I love me some Moulin Rouge! I would probably rate that as one of my favs. BUT...the idea of a sequel? Ewan...buddy, what are you thinking? Unless it turns out to be some sort of PREQUEL to Moulin Rouge, I can't see it working either...

re: Ewan Wants To Do A MOULIN ROUGE Sequel...

Didn't Baz Luhrman want to bring Moulin Rouge to Las Vegas?? That's what I remember a while ago. (although...it's on his list of things to do...after many other things)

re: Ewan Wants To Do A MOULIN ROUGE Sequel...

that's true paradox... I mean {not to sound really childish or anything} I loved a bunch of the Disney movies when I was a kid. I loved almost all of them... but then they made sequels and I kind of lost it. One of the worst examples: Cinderella 2: Dreams do come true.... eww

re: Ewan Wants To Do A MOULIN ROUGE Sequel...

As Mistress said, it seems that he just wants that experience again. I highly doubt that there has been any discussion about making a sequel to Moulin Rouge, and what he meant was that he would love to have that experience again, not that it was being thought of or offered to him or anything of the sort.

A sequel? how they would make a sequel to this I dont know, but the more I get to see Ewan the better.

I agree with ClassicVintage though.
"It's a great feeling of power to be naked in front of people. We're happy to watch actual incredible graphic violence and gore, but as soon as somebody's naked it seems like the public goes a bit bananas about the whole thing."
