If that's all accurate, that's so sad to hear.
Being a huge fan of her, I have read SO MUCH about her. While she's a human and makes mistakes like all of us, I never got that she was that cruel. So, if that's all true, that's sad.
It's def a juicy read--bound to be a huge hit.

That's some of the worst writing I've read since, well, since bww.

Posted: 7/14/08 at 4:10pmWhat a truly hideous photo of Madonna for the cover. She looks about 70. On purpose, no doubt. I took everything in that excerpt with a grain of salt, but I'm surprised by none of it.

I can't imagine Madonna fans will buy it, and I can't see Madonna haters needing it.
He comes off like a friend you were very glad to drop years ago, then you run into him and he's the still same old whiner with the same old complaints.

Posted: 7/14/08 at 4:14pmThe writing is indeed poor but is further hindered by the off-putting "look at what a martyr I am" tone.

Whining? Name dropping? Bitter? As in
"Madonna was so cruel to me, buying me a BUSINESS class ticket to her wedding and putting me in the SMALL bedroom at the castle that I felt obligated to check how much she spent on me and complain bitterly to her assistant. At dinner that night (Scottish food- ICK! I asked for chicken instead!) I sat between Sting and Trudy and neither of them could believe that Madonna used polyester napkins and served such cheap wine! Happily, Gwyneth was there and the two of us spent the rest of the evening making fun of Guy! On the way home, I made the mistake of letting the cab driver drop Gwyneth off first and almost got stuck with the cab fare! I gave him my card with Madonna's phone number written on the back an told him SHE'D pay the $7! As if I'd carry money!"

Well, to be fair, he claims that she took that airline ticket out of what she owed him for decorating fees.
But same difference---it sounds like he mooched off of her a lot. Her side of the story would likely be enlightening.

LOL! True.....
Although I've always gotten the sense that Madonna has herself on a huge pedestal.

The writing might be bad, but none of it is surprising. I can totally see her treating her brother as an employee.
And I do find it curious that he's the one being criticized.

Well, DD, the fact is he WAS an employee - by choice. And let's face it, would perhaps not have had the life he's lived if not for her.
I've always been intrigued by the actuality of their family dynamic, mostly because of the strict Catholic element to it all.
I really don't think anyone can know the reality of the personal relationships - and honestly, I'm not convinced that should be a basis for public discussion. Yes, she is a PUBLIC figure, but it's the PUBLIC persona that should be open to evaluation and/or discussion.
This reminds me too much of Jodie's brother's book - and I hope it follows the same trajectory into the bargain bin (and no one's memory.)

Posted: 7/15/08 at 1:50amI'm so happy that Madonna is still alive to defend herself. The nicest thing that I can say about Christopher is that he didn't wait until she was dead to write this garbage. (re-Christina Crawford)

Books like this should be published on the internet only. It literally is not worth the paper it's printed on. (Think of how many trees have been cut down for this.)
This is the kind of book you'll see in a couple years in the free bins outside bookstores. Hopefully they will then go to the recycling bins. It's probably the kind of book you can read most of while browsing in a bookstore.
But who wants to read this? It's poorly written and it just shows siblings and in-laws fighting. People have that in their own families. Who needs more? (Qualification, I don't have it. I'm single with no siblings to rival with. But I sure as hell have seen it.)

Oh, fer Chrissakes my battles with my sister totally trump this petty crap. And WE aren't estranged! Whatever happened to Italian clan loyalty?
Oh, and for someone who's style is apparently his calling card, would it have killed him to include some in his high school level writing?
