Who is Blockbuster's parent company? That will be an issue.

Meanwhile, the members of this forum have agreed that I am allowed one conservative screaming rant a day and here it is for today:

Michael Moore is an enemy of America and deserves to die. I would hapily do things to him that would make a Spanish Inquisitor go "Daaam!"

Oh, they will--they know they will make a fortune on it.

I am buying my copy tomorrow. I am even willing to host viewings of it for folks.

Oh dear Rodney;
That explains so much about you. Anway; I don't want to preach my opinion to anyone. I jsut think that as responsible adults and US citizens; we have a duty to research all the info that is out there and make a educated vote. This film ( no matter what you think) is part of the info out there. It has to be seen.

Rodney, you've already exceeded your quota today, when you said "little liberal pansies like yourself."

Also, in terms of good news for Kerry, there was just a report that there are significantly higher numbers of minorites that have registered this year, a population that usually votes democratic.

Ok, knowing the facts is one thing, but this movie TWISTS and distorts facts beyond belief!! It honestly scares the crap out of me that there are simple-minded people who see this film and let that be the only deciding factor in who to vote for. I actually agree with Rodney. Michael Moore is a jerk and unpatriotic. Being Anti-everything doesn't make yo ua good American!! ::steps down off soapbox:::

You don't have to blindly follow the president to be patriotic. The right to question authority is one of the basic rights our country is based on. He might be extreme, but just because he hates Bush with a passion doesn't mean he hates America.

Ok, WOW PalJoey, way to be clever and unique!! Boy, you sure showed me...
Anyway,I don't ONLY watch Fox news, but for the record, their news ia a HELL of a lot less twisted and distored than Michaels movies and books. And I don't even like Rush Limbaugh, so there!!

Also, I'm ALL for questioning authority. I don't blindly follow anyone, especially the President. There are plenty of things I don't exactly agree with Bush on, but, i'm not just voting on one or two issues, i'm looking at the BIG picture and that's why I can't bring myself to vote for Kerry.

Dame, I worked for Blockbuster for more years than I care to admit so I can tell you that they will carry anything that will turn a profit. Hollywood Video is the chain that doesn't order "controversial titles" at times. You can expect more than enough coppies to be available at BBV.

Moore made the film because he DOES care about this country. He IS patriotic. It IS patriotic to question authority. Or is that only ok when a liberal is in office?

THANK you jrb, it pisses me off when people say he hates America. He has a right to have an opinion and make a movie about it. There seems to be this stigmatism attatched to questioning Bush or the war that it makes you unpatriotic.

I might not drape myself in a flag and weep over the national anthem, but I believe I'm just as patriotic if not more than many of these self-proclaimed patriots. I've actually sacrificed things for my country, living in China for over half my life moving every year and seeing the poor in countires where rights are denied.

I used to be proud to call myself American. My family was held hostage in Tiananmen Square, and I felt lucky myself American while tanks ran over protesting students infront of my apartment building. With this president, I am ashamed to be an American.

My friends overseas see this country as filled with ignorant and lazy slobs, and I don't blame them for the image he's projecting. Kerry needs to end this presidencu and bring back the true meaning of America.

Mimi...could you please list some facts the movie twists? I'm tired of people saying how the movie "twists the facts" but then never saying what facts it twists.

Grr, I really wanted to stay out of this thread, but, i've made my bed and now I guess I have to lay in it (is that how the saying goes?)

Ok first of all, the scene from the morning of 9/11 and they have the footage of Bush reading to the kids. Michaels narration goes something like, "and Bush just sat there...and SAT there...and sat there!" I mean, give me a BREAK, it was 7 minutes!! those 7 minutes could not have changed anything. Would Michael have been happier if Bush had LEAPT up and ran around the room screaming, "AHH The evil-doers are after us, we're under ATTACK!" and scaring the crap out of little kids!? Michale would have bashed him for that, too. Bush remained very calm so as not to scare the kids, and I just don't see what point Michael was trying to make.

The other thing that bothered me was the lady from Flint. She was FINE with her kids joining the military, until there was a war!! Guess what, lady? You can't just expect your kids to sign up for the army and get money and benefits and then COMPLAIN when they have to serve their country. Yes, in a war, people DIE. It sucks, but when she said "BUSH killed my son!" I just rolled my eyes. What, did Bush personally show up at her house with a gun and KILL her child!? No! I mean, of COURSE the woman is in terrible plain and sufferent a terrible loss, I just think blaming Bush is taking it too far. Be proud that your son defended this country! And also, the other lady she met up with at the protest...she had a REALLY bad fake accent, I couldn't stop laughing.

I couldn't stop rolling my eyes during this whole movie, it offers OPINIONS as facts and that makes me angry. I'll admit, Bush DOES make some very funny faces, but, this movie is still worthless.
Ok, I put on my flame-resistant suit, so, flame away, i'm ready!! Updated On: 10/4/04 at 08:55 PM

Oh Meems, you're just so surface-only I'm surprised you're not a billboard.

It's not an either/or situation. I don't think it was EITHER sit there for seven minutes after the country is attacked, OR frighten the children. One would reasonably expect that the man might have said something along the lines of, "I've just been called away on some very important business, I am hoping your teacher will finish reading the story to you, it was terrific meeting you all and I hope to meet you again sometime soon. Good-bye."

But that would require two abilities that this president does not have and I believe this was the point that "Michale" as you say it, was trying to make, but which you just couldn't grasp: the ability to 1) think on his feet and 2) to express his thoughts and in so doing, use speech. Clearly, this president is incapable of that. Even the Fox commentators were finally forced to concede this point after last week's debate. But not before labelling Moore un-American for making that point in the movie.

Secondly, of COURSE the woman knew that her kids were risking their lives by being in the military. What she was enraged about was that flip-flopper Bush lied about the reasons for going into Iraq not once but three times. And it was a President much greater than Bush who pointed out that the buck did indeed stop in the Oval Office and in that way, by lying about his motives, yes, Bush did kill her son and not for the agreed upon contract between a society and its army, but for his own petty folly.

That you missed all of this, that this failed to register with you at all, does not shock me in the least.

Guess what Princess, Jonathan Larson would have SO hated Bush.

First, Namo, DO NOT call me "Meems"! That is a nickname only my FRIENDS are allowed to call me. Second, you're reminding me of why I stopped posting here all summer!!

I could sit here and fight with you all night, Namo, but I won't. I will say, however, that it was VERY classy of you to point out ONE stupid type-o I made, when I spelled Moore's name right the rest of the time. Talk about nit-picking! Jeez.

Obviosuly, we won't agree on our opinions on Bush. I think he's an okay guy who never INTELNIONALLY lied to anybody, and you think he's the devil incarnate. But I will say this: It is VERY easy to put words in someone's mouth after a situation has happened. Hindsight is 20/20, you know. But can you imagine the fear that man felt on that morning? It was written all over his face! None of us can say how we would have acted in that situation. I don't deny that Bush is a lousy public speaker, but you know what? I'm not voting on who can string together the most pretty words.

Oh, and you're right, in all likeliness Jon would have despised this administration. What's your point? Just because I admire the man's music doesn't mean I have to agree with his politics.
