I've been to the Castro in SF for classic movies before, and won't be going back again anytime soon.
I don't appreciate audiences who think it's ok to speak back to the dialogue/actors on the screen. I don't need to hear an audience member tell Norma Shearer "You go girl!".

I suppose I should choose All About Eve, considering everything, but I also adore Sullivan's Travels, The Philadelphia Story, The Godfather, To Kill A Mockingbird, Duck Soup and so many others.
I love, love, love The Toxic Avenger. Best movie ever.
Justme2....I never did see the original version of" An Imitation of Life"....but the Lana Turner one is very special to me.

Claudette Colbert is wonderful in the original. After seeing that one the Turner one seems like a bad, campy (though entertaining) soap opera by comparison.
of course it is, marquise, but let's stick to movies, hmm?
and bway, the sauna scene is enmblazoned on my soul.
The only reason I ask is because the 1950's Imitation of Life completely reverses the "who helps who" storyline and it's always bothered me and come off as racist(to me).
The original has Louse Beavers as Delilah, who helps Claudette Colbert out of her misery by packaging her pancake recipe into an empire. Colbert is the smart marketer, but the product that saves them from the poorhouse is Delilah's.
I never appreciated how the 1950's version decided it wouldn't be ok to show that.
Yes, but Susan Kohner chewing up the scenery is worth the price of admission alone.....

"Mamma! Mammaaaaaa! Mammaaaaaaaaaaaa!" as she flings open the door of the hearse and throws herself on the casket. Just too many things.
And who doesn't get goosebumps when Mahalia screams and moans her way through "Soon I Will Be Done With The Trouble of the World?"
The Princess Bride
The Philadelphia Story, without question.

I HATE MOVIES!!!!!!!!!
well..it WILL be the Rent movie..but until then, my favorite is definately The Birdcage.
GirlforTartaglia-have you seen La Cage Aux Folles the movie? I thought it was even better than the American remake, "The Birdcage".
Men of the Midway starring Chris Burns and Paul Baressi.
Oh, I guess you didn't mean those types of movies.
Hey, if it's your favorite, it's your favorite.
THe Wizard of Oz (but I have yet to see Men of the Midway!)
I recommend it highly! Never fails to satisfy.
