Dame, your subject line makes it sound like the theatre is on fire! YIKES
The situation is serious but the good news is that the winds (according to what I heard on the radio) are going opposite direction of the zoo which was their main concern.
Really early fire season this year. Another one is about 75% containced in OC

Posted: 5/9/07 at 10:01pmWell.. the main structures did not burn down. The observatory is closed for noiw and all concerts at the greek are being moved to different venues. No word as to what they have done with the animals in the zoo.

This breaks my heart - but, thankfully, none of the animals or buildings are lost.
And in the end, it's what the land needs to rejuvinate itself. It actually should be a fascinating process to watch.

Posted: 5/9/07 at 10:13pmYour right DG. We spent most of the evening on a perch on Mulholland drive watching the fire and praying. Watching the wind change directions many times and the flames coming this close and then backing up and then close again had me wrecked.

Posted: 5/9/07 at 10:18pmDAME - that's what we did in the '03 fire season from hell - watching it burn to a quarter mile from the house. It is NOT fun!
