I saw it and I didn't mind it that much. Zooey Deschanel is one of my favorite actresses and I thought she was very funny in it. I also love Parker and McConaughey, so the actors made it watchable for me. They did a good job with some pretty crappy material. You have to go into it not expecting it to be an Oscar contender. The animal bits were cringeworthy, there was some pretty bad dialogue, the characters weren't incredibly likeable, but somehow I had fun watching it. I guess I'm just strange.

Posted: 3/10/06 at 11:55pmIs it better or worse than "There's Something About Mary" and "The Sweetest Thing"? Those movies set the bar for crappy, low-brow romantic comedies.

Terrible....the worst movie I have seen in a long time.

It was bad, BUT I must say that Zooey Deschanel stole the movie for me. The few funny moments were all hers, and while she wasn't given much to work with, I think she's quite a good actress. Kathy Bates is also characteristically good, though she's so much better than this material.
Really, though... if anyone went into this movie expecting a high-quality romantic comedy, then I can't feel sorry for them. It was silly, completely unrealistic fluff, which I thought was apparent from the previews.

C'mon, for a movie that you go into knowing it's going to be meaningless, romantic, overly predictable piece of fluff it's not really THAT bad.
SPOILERS:
I thought all the animal stuff was really unneeded. I also thought she was just a big slut for sleeping with him when he was trying to break up with her.
Personally, I didn't like Sweetest Thing or Something About Mary, so I would sit through this before either of those.

You should see the director's cut of The Sweetest Thing where the characters inexplicably start singing a song about penises.
It makes you thank Hubbard Almighty that Jason Bateman was soon thereafter rescued by Arrested Development.

I think she's got a great rack.

Cruel, I have been so unfortunate as to witness the, "Your too big to fit in here" song. I am scarred.
Ebert's review of Failure says everything I was thinking without throwing any of the positives in. http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060309/REVIEWS/60308002/1023
I mean, there aren't many, but my mother will love it. She owns most of J.Lo's movies. It's her kind of flick.

Funny, when I first saw the print ads for FAILURE TO LAUNCH, I thought it was a film about Mr Roxy's honeymoon.
Strange how I could jump to such a conclusion.

I am too much of a gentlemen to tell you my true feelings after that last remark.
Suffice it to say is Hello Dolly was overrated & Carol Channing was a borderline talent

HELLO, DOLLY! overrated? (3,844 performances in its original production and 11 Tony Awards)
Carol Channing an borderline talent? (Tony Award and a Lifetime Achievement award. To say nothing of OVER 5,000 performances as Dolly Levi)
The facts speak for themselves.

#1 at the box office this weekend with $26 million - despite bad reviews.
But thewn again, the other two noew releases - Shaggy Dog and Hills Have Eyes - got bad reviews too.
Now to clear up the confusion: "Carrie Bradshaw" (a.k.a. Sarah Jessica Parker)is someone we'd like to see naked. Terry Bradshaw is not.

Posted: 3/12/06 at 6:54pmLet's see. I have a thing for bald guys. I've always loved older men. Terry Bradshaw has been a longtime crush of mine. He shows his naked ass in the movie. And BWW's own Sergei Mikhailovich Eisenstein wannabe warns people off the movie. Multiplex, here I come!
