"All religions are true, because they are true in the hearts of all those who believe in them. What other kind of truth is there?"
"The time has come to abandon all intolerance. We must recognize that religious truth evolves and changes. Truth is not absolute or set in stone. Even atheists acknowledge the divine. Through acts of love and charity the atheist acknowledges God as well, and redeems his own soul, becoming an active participant in the redemption of humanity."
"Our church is big enough for heterosexuals and homosexuals, for the pro-life and the pro-choice! For conservatives and liberals, even communists are welcome and have joined us. We all love and worship the same God."

Even more from his speech ...
"The church no longer believes in a literal hell where people suffer. This doctrine is incompatible with the infinite love of God. God is not a judge but a friend and a lover of humanity. God seeks not to condemn but only to embrace. Like the fable of Adam and Eve, we see hell as a literary device. Hell is merely a metaphor for the isolated soul, which like all souls ultimately will be united in love with God”
Get ready for a religious conservative meltdown. Five, four, three, two ...
Sadly, it's not real.

Oh, CRAP.
Thanks, Reg.
What kind of sick f*ck would publish that?

Yes, Virginia, there are all religions.
Every day I'm getting more and more sick of "parody" websites. There's a million of them now and it's impossible to know what is and what isn't real and the people on Facebook who get pissy with people with things like "That's not real, DUH!" can go eat a bag of dicks.

^^^ I just saw Bing Crosby singing that guy's praises while wearing blackface in "Holiday Inn"!
Honestly, he's done so much good recently, I believed the whole thing. That thread entitled, "Don't click. This thread is empty." was about this post. Two seconds later I realized it was fake.
This one got me too... Satire is great, but it is nice to know when it's satire, or at least having a chance to pick up on it. This one isn't even funny. It's presented in such a way that it looks believable, particularly considering all of the other things the Pope has done since taking office. So I don't really get the point of it!
I guess someone else must think it's hysterical, at least the author probably does, so who am I to judge. :S
I was instantly suspicious when the article mentioned the Third Vatican Council. I hadn't heard anything about a Third Vatican Council.
I mean, if Jon Stewart isn't talking about it...

Anything that comes from a website with the '.wordpress' still in its domain name (that shows it is free) is not a reliable source, in my opinion.
Here's his disclaimer, which can be found on the top right corner of the link you posted: http://diversitychronicle.wordpress.com/disclaimer/
I've gotten in the habit of fact-checking almost anything before I post it on Facebook, as I've nearly made this mistake about three times more frequently in 2013 than in the previous five years combined.
I wish endless computer viruses on the people who originate these mock news articles, unless it's the Onion or Mrs. Betty Bowers.
I agree with many of you. I think there's a big difference between satire and a prank. Many of these sites are designed to deceive, even with small disclaimers on subpages.
I will be more careful next time, but I worry about others who are fooled (as many have been), particularly on sites publishing phony medical advice as a "joke." I would hope something like that could end up in a law suit. That's not parody, that's harmful.
There are a lot of sick f*cks in the world who think this is funny. I hope something like this comes right back to bite every one of them in the ass.

Is it really any different from the Onion, except that more people know that the Onion is fake? It's not like the Onion has a big Flash script that reads "Fake!" when you go to it.
I think the onus is on the person forwarding something to at least make an attempt to figure out if something is true or not. If you can't take two extra seconds to google to see if the story you're forwarding was posted anywhere else, then maybe you shouldn't be hitting "forward" in the first place.
I hope you're never fooled, Phyllis. I will be the first to laugh.

I agree with Phyllis. If the proliferation of those fake sites makes people think twice before hitting that "forward" button, then maybe that was their purpose in the first place.
So clever on their part.

You can laugh all you want, but you'll most likely be at least the second, since I'd laugh at myself for being fooled. I remember that's how I learned the Daily Currant was a fake site, after I forwarded some nonsense about Rick Santorum that turned out not to be true.
But if it makes you feel better to shake your fist at the website that fooled you like the old man who yells at the cloud, then knock yourself out.

ProTip: if you're desperate for the last word you might want to aim higher than "I know you are but what I am I?"
Wow. I see what you mean. Great job, too. You're the expert.
By the way, I thought you said you could laugh at yourself. I see that wasn't true.
