JohnPopa --- Wow. One of my best friends in all the world, sadly no longer with us, starred in "The Beast With Five Fingers" for Warner Bros. back in 1946. Her name was Andrea King, and she was like family to me. Such a wonderful person, and a rare screen beauty. I still maintain a tribute site in her honor.
Here is the page I put up for "The Beast With Five Fingers."

"Dracula: Prince of Darkness"
This ending always freaked me out as a kid. And all that ultra-red blood!

B12B, here's a nice clip with you friend, Peter Lorre, and the "beast". Great special effects considering when it was made. And the score ain't bad either.

I think probably my favorite old monster movie is probably the original Frankenstein with Karloff as the monster and also the original Little Shop of Horrors.
The only monster/horror movies I won't watch are zombie movies. I really don't like those movies.

Any time I work on the Universal back lot, I ALWAYS manage to make a side trip over to the soundstage where they still have the Paris Opera House set from the original Phantom.
I won't even go into the time I got to wear Tony Perkins dress from Psycho 3, while standing in ‘THE mother’s window’… I was in heaven. I still even have a little piece of the ‘iron work’ trim from the very top of the house. It’s had fallen inside and I kept it as a souvenir.

That score by Max Steiner is fantastic. It's based on the Bach Chaconne (originally for solo violin) that was arranged for a one-handed piano player in the film. The music is so grand and haunting!
Here's Heifetz playing the original violin version:

Here's a piano arrangement that was adapted for the film:

And here is a wonderful CD with a lengthy suite from the score, recorded by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. You can listen to samples of Steiner's Chaconne arrangement for one-handed piano, plus the rest of his beautiful and creepy film music.

BEST12BARS: Thank you for bringing my childhood back to me. I was a Monster/Horror Geek growing up. My room had Horror Posters on the walls and Monster Models all over the place. I used to watch some bad actor called ZACHERLY, who had his own show. He was dressed like Dracula and would host Horror films. It was a riot. And CHILLER THEATER, with the hand coming up out of the ground, that used to give this young boy nightmares. And the monster Mags-I used to have quite a collection.
My Favorite films:
THE CRAWLING EYE
ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS
ROBOT MONSTER
RODAN
GODZILLA
KING KONG VS. GODZILLA
ATTACK OF THE 50FT WOMAN
DR. CYCLOPS
MOTHRA
THEM!
And of course, all of the CLASSIC UNIVERSAL Monster/Horror films.
What a trip down Memory lane...

The 50 ft Woman was so awful! I love how she looks transparent when she's on the rampage.
And don't forget The Day Of The Triffids!
Killer cacti!

I think some of 'em glowed and some didn't, nmartin. I definitely remember "glowers" though!
The box art was fantastic on those models!

I didn't STEAL it. IT had broken off of the top of the building and fell inside. I got to go into the house for for the filming of a 'year end industrial video' and I was standing in the window, playing the 'Mother'. On my way out of the house, it was laying in the mud. I asked, "What's this?" and was told what it was. So I asked if I could keep it.
They let me.
It's now attached to the top of the framed picture of me and Elvira.
Unfortunately, the picture of me in the costume, in the window, has been lost during a move.

B12B, you being a Kansas boy and all, do you remember "SHOCK THEATRE", hosted by GREGORY GRAVE? It was broadcast from KC's Channel 9. I'm not exactly sure where in Kansas you grew up, but this was regular weekly viewing for me.
Gregory Grave fan Website.

Well, I'll be sure and not set my coat down anywhere near you, then!
