We have one fat cat and one skinny cat. We've got the fat one on diet food, so we have to put him in a separate room and close the door until the little one is done eating, otherwise fatty would steal all the food. They are both adorable, I love my kitties.
It's really hard to put them on a diet - particularly when they're crying at you all the time to feed them. My vet gave me special diet food for Tootsy and she wouldn't touch it. She went almost 3 days without eating anything and finally I had to give her her regular food. You can do your cat irreparable harm if you make them lose weight too fast too. They get a fatal disorder called Hepatic Lipidosis. Weight loss has to be very gradual so going without eating at all is a major no no.
It's not easy being a cat mother!

Too true, Mamie. My cat MUST have food in her bowl at ALL times, or nobody in the house can sleep. She'll howl all night long until someone feeds her. We have her on weight loss food, but it doesn't do much good. We used to chase her around the house to give her some exercise, but I think if we tried that now, she'd drop dead of a heart attack.
