Ok, to tie-in with my fave movie musical thread, who gives your favorite performance in a movie musical?

My choice - Carol Burnett in Annie. So unbelievable!

I'll third the Julie Andrews sentiment. re: Fave Performance in a Movie Musical And add that I LOVE William Daniels in 1776. I'm also rather fond of Antonio Banderas in Evita.

I think Dorothy Loudon was a better Miss Hannigan.

But I love Carol too!

Ok - not exactly a musical - but has anyone else seen SOB? Julie Andrews gives one of the best performances of her career - and exposes her breasts in the process - its a very dated comedy, but funny and very dark, with some great performances by Robert Preston, Andrews, Loretta Swit and many other fine performers - and the story is pretty fun, to!

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

Redhot - the set-piece of them driving around with Mulligan in the viking hat is enough to make you believe in comic gods.

Jean Hagen as Lina Lamont in Singing in the Rain.
I know all the lines by heart now, but I still laugh out loud every time I see her in it.

I agree with Topol in Fiddler on the Roof.

Although, when I was a kid I wanted to be Ann-Margaret in Bye Bye Birdie VERY badly, so she was my favorite at that time.

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

Christian Bale in Newsies! Ok, so he can't sing, dance .... the essentials for a musical. But hey he's pretty to look at. Turn that baby on mute and I'm good to go.

I loved the way Christian looked in Newsies.
But CATHERINE ZETA- JONES in Chicago and
JUDY GARLAND in Wizard of Oz, of course!
Also, Liza in Cabaret and Julie in anything!

My real choice would be Judy in either Wizard of Oz or Meet me in St. Louis. Unfortunatly shes just not nearly as hot as Christian Bale.
