Peter, Im not the middle child or anything but I also feel wishy washy like him. He doesnt have much confidence till he hits puberty, I didnt have much confidence till I started doing shows. Hmmm..
My favorite episodes were always the ones where they'd sing (for whatever reason, networks thought it was worthwhile to give this family some screen time).
"Good Time Music" "When It's Time to Change" "Keep On Singing and Dancing" "Sunshine Day"
Florece Henderson was in the chorus of an old musical called WISH YOU WERE HERE when Richard Rodgers spotted her and selected her to play Laurey in the National Tour of OKLAHOMA!. She returned to Broadway as the star of FANNY, which featued a lovely score by Harold Rome and was fairly successful.
She then starred in the Broadway musical THE GIRL WHO CAME TO SUPPER by Noel Coward. The cast album of that show is worth picking up for Tessie O'Shea's Tony-winning turn as a London music hall performer, and especially for Henderson's 11:00 number, "The Coconut Girl", in which she masterfully and maniacally enacts all the roles of an entire musical. Every theatre fan should love this amazing, hysterical 8 minute showstopper.
Also, Henderson's City Center revival recording of SOUTH PACIFIC is my favorite recording of that show, with Henderson a bright and vibrant Nellie. What a voice.
