Summer's coming and for the first time in seven years, I don't have a trip planned. Ok, full exposure...I just got back, but whatever.
Where have you stayed? Rank 'em.
For me, it would go like this....
#1 The Boardwalk-elegant, immaculately clean, breezy, location location, location, staff has always been miraculous, and love the pool. Splurge for a BW view if you can. It's worth every penny.
2. The Beach Club-My Lord, that pool, the resort reeks of "I'm fabulous," beg for a full balcony, and say hi to greeter Teena in the lobby.
3. The Grand Floridan-I mean.....
4. The Swan-deluxe-ness at moderate prices
5. The Yacht Club-not as fun as Beach Club, but you get to use the pool, location rules and the bar is very gentlemanly.
6. The Wilderness Lodge
7. The Animal Kingdom Lodge-love the darkness...and the bar! Apparently there are animals there too.....jk, they're amazing. Pay for a savannah view.
8. Port Orleans Riverside- my favorite non-deluxe
9. The Dolphin-Great location... Get queen-sized beds already!
10. Bay Lake Tower-great location, but ultimately left me cold...and I hated the pool.
11. Coronado Springs-meh.

If we're talking location, location, location...it doesn't get any better than being on the monorail line. That said, I love The Boardwalk Hotel. If you're OK walking through Epcot everyday, it's not that far from the monorail.
#1- The Grand Floridian
#2- Animal Kingdom Lodge
#3- The Boardwalk
To be honest, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. I will say, however, I think the All Star Resorts get a bad rep- they're fun for families!

I've only ever stayed at All Star Movies because I couldn't afford anything better for a week-long stay. Yes, it's a glorified motel and during the summer, the Brazilian tour groups could get pretty obnoxious, but the service was as excellent as expected from Disney staff and having the extra benefits of staying at a Disney property was WELL worth staying there as opposed to off-site.
Two words: MEAL PLAN If you want to eat decent food and try some of the high-end restaurants, it pays for itself three times over. I wouldn't do it any other way.

I've been to Disney 7 times and I have stayed at the same 3 resorts each time. My first time going was when I was 6 my last time was 4 years ago.
1) The Boardwalk
2) Dolphin
3) Swan
Next time I go, I plan on trying one of the Animal Kingdom Villa's.

I stayed at AKL for the first time last year, and completely fell in love the resort!
This August, I'll be staying at the Polynesian for the first time. I've always wanted to stay there, but I'm having some second thoughts. :-/

I stayed at the Boardwalk in 1998 and it was a wonderful experience. The other two times I went to Disney World I stayed at hotels outside of the resort.

Don't have second thoughts about Polynesian. I stayed there with my family and we loved it. My mom had gone to Hawaii in her younger years and had said it was just like being back.
I may be staying at the movies resort next year
