miss p: They actually had AMC playing in the delivery room, while you gave birth? That's funny.
oh, and the one with Rock Hudson where they work for competing ad agencies......can't remember the name, but I think the product involved was biff?
Elphaba, the "product" was "VIP." The movie was Lover Come Back.
That is one of my 3 favorites of hers.
SM2, yes, they were showing AMC in my delivery room. After all, it was ME who was delivering! What do you think they were going to show? Fox News?????

The movie where she sells lobsters was "It Happened to Jane" - takes place in Maine, so naturally I like the movie!
miss p: I would think they'd just turn the damn thing off!
Jesus, it was only a question!
SM2, I hope you know I was just kidding, too!
But, of course!
right....vip
The Thrill of It All (where she's the soap commercial lady)
The Man Who Knew Too Much (for her performance)
Young At Heart (she's great with Frank Sinatra and Ethel Barrymore)
Please Don't Eat the Daisies (just to watch her fix up that house)
On Moonlight Bay
By the Light of the Silvery Moon
Calamity Jane
Billy Rose's Jumbo
Glebb - did you know that Doris started out as a dancer? She was involved in a terrible accident when she was still quite young and the doctors didn't think she'd ever walk again - let alone dance. While going through the long recovery, she started taking voice lessons and achieved fame as a big band and top 40 singer.
I did not know that Mamie!
Thank you. It explains why she's such a good dancer.
I love her voice. I love her.
I actually wrote her a fan letter about 8 years ago. She responded with the lovliest note and photo. The photo itself is personalized with another short note and signature. It's a favorite of mine.

Forget Doris Day's films. What about her recordings? That woman really knew how to sing!
Dollypop---amen.
I have a double CD of hers... sort of a "best of"... and I can't stop listening to it.
She was a terrific singer!
Just put her Christmas music on my iPod.

If I had to pick one it would be The Glass Bottomed Boat. I thought Rod Taylor enhanced that film no end, and I've always loved Dom DeLuise: - )
My favorite: "Don't Eat the Daisies."
Coooooooooo-key. Coooooooooo-la!
And who could forget Send Me No Flowers. I love the scene when she slaps Rock Hudson awake. Makes me laugh every time.
LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME is my favortie performance.
THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH is my favorite film.
and THE THRILL OF IT ALL is the light comedy that i like the best. doris plays beverly boyer, housewife, who becomes a tv star. the rock hudson movies give me the creeps.
The Thrill of It All on TCM 4:00, Sunday, October 29.
(Then take a dinner break and come back to TCM at 8:00 for Grey Gardens!)
LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME - which she should have received the Oscar for.
Isn't it time she received an Honorary Oscar? (Or have they offered her one and she's refused it? I know she's rather "reclusive.")
Anyway, she should get one, goddammit! Let's take out an ad in Variety or howl at the moon or something.
I think they have offered it, miss pennywise. I also think she was injured some years ago and doesn't get around so well either. But she is easily the most deserving candidate out there.
Pillow Talk just started on AMC.
I loved Move Over Darling with James Garner and Please Don't Eat the Daisies with David Niven.
