re: Favorite Kevin Smith Film

Chasing Amy's probably my favorite, although Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back has its own charms as the payoff of four movies' worth of in-jokes.

re: Favorite Kevin Smith Film

Chasing Amy's prob the most well done and best, but can't help it my favorite is Dogma. Jay and Silent Bob as prophets, Chris Rock as an apostle, Matt and Ben w/ no working parts, Jason Lee as a kinda devil and Alanis Morrissette as god...you can't go wrong.
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

CLERKS.....if you've been there, you'd know. I don't think he's done anything to top it.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

"Dogma," due in no small part to the genius of Alan Rickman.

Anyone see Jersey Girl? Think it couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a comedy or drama..

re: Favorite Kevin Smith Film

I would like to say Clerks, but I fell in love with Alan Rickman in Dogma

re: Favorite Kevin Smith Film

I will also throw my support behing Dogma, with Clerks and Chasing Amy tied for second and Jersey Girl, well... not counted.
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

Dogma
And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

re: Favorite Kevin Smith Film

I'd also go with "Dogma". "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" was pretty dumb for me and "Jersey Girl", like I said, was kind of confused as a film.

re: Favorite Kevin Smith Film

Strangely I find 'Dogma' almost unwatchable, I thought it was an endless stream of exposition, slightly peppered with Jay's dick jokes.

Dogma, hands down.

re: Favorite Kevin Smith Film

Dogma and Chasing Amy, but I quote Jay And Silent Bob the most. Kevin Smith's movies are the only times I can tolerate Ben Affleck. "Lion Face-argh! Lemon face-eww! Lion Face-argh! Lemon face-eww!"..."Sometimes you do films for the prestige--" "--And sometimes you do Reindeer Games..." "...Dude. That was cold."

"It's not always about you!!!" (But if you think I'm referring to you anyway, then I probably am.)

re: Favorite Kevin Smith Film

Any movie with James Van Der Beek and Jason Biggs as Jay and Silent Bob can't be all bad! re: Favorite Kevin Smith Film

I do hear ya on Jersey Girl. It wasn't completely drama, and it wasn't a total comedy, but it was too frenic to be classified as a dramedy...so what was it?

Edited because I know that I am "too" smart "to" make "two" silly grammar mistakes!

Exactly. Part family drama, part crude comedy. Just didn't work.
