Does anyone else get as much of a kick out this one as I do? It's such a marvelous looking film. The camera work is so meticulous and Romijn's wardrobe is just delicious.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

It is my favoite film of 2002, and my second favorite Brian De Palma (my favorite living director) film! Like most of De Palma's films, the attention to visuals and scoring is second to none. Other than one scene, where the film hits a brick wall for me, I think the film is a masterpiece.

Absolutely hated it the first time I saw it and then watched it again and loved it. DePalma's least violent, least misogynistic movie. Goofy and dazzling in equal measures, its one of his very best.

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

Truly delicious and elegant filmmaking. The plot gets a bit ridiculous at times, but it's never anything less than fascinating. One of my favorites from 2002.
