I would give anything to see David Lynch attempt a musical. Maybe not a stage adaptation, but an original creation. Mulholland Dr. had hypnotic musical sequences, so I know he could do it.

Steven Spielberg really needs to attempt a musical. He's said as much; it's one of the film genres he hasn't attempted, he did a great job with "Anything Goes" in TEMPLE OF DOOM, and he really, reeeeeaaaallly needs to LIGHTEN THE HELL UP after MUNICH, PRIVATE RYAN, SCHINDLER'S LIST, et. al. I've always wished he would tackle CITY OF ANGELS, a musical that would actually work better on film than onstage--he'd fix the problems, come up with some great ways to handle the visual transitions, and cast interesting people.

I ask in all honesty/What would life be?/Without a song and a dance, what are we?/So I say "Thank you for the music/For giving it to me."

Cruel-I think the fact that Lynch sticks a song in when y ou least expect one is why it works. I was going to say his name too but I'm not sure.
